 I also used to be able to get text messages saying that my package was received and my order credited. I do not get that now. MAKE SURE you get a receipt at UPS when your item is scanned, so at least you have recourse in case you get a message from Amazon that the have not received your return!

 Needless to say this was NOT an acceptable solution for me, so I returned the drive and bought a cheap SATA SSD which greatly outperformed the P10 WD - you need to do BETTER. 2.5 Stars. Added on 11/11: This item was returned following the Amazon

Very Average Performance and 4800RPM

 Which can be annoying at times when I just want to hurry up and unplug the device. But speaking of read and write speeds, when it was brand new, it was able to achieve read and write speeds at just 100-120MBps, which is just a little shy of its advertised 130MBps. However, a year later, with quite a number of files, over half of its capacity used, it's now reading and writing at just under 50MBps. While this number may seem drastically low, keep in mind that this is still a spinning hard drive and it's known to deteriorate over a period of time, especially after constant reading and writing to the disk

 And if you can find it at a price under $100 for this 5TB version, which is what I managed to snag, it's a great backup drive as long as you're not using it for editing.

 Hey everyone, I picked up this portable hard drive on Prime Day last year because it was a great value for the size which I picked up in 5TB capacity and for the pretty good read and write speeds. It's advertised to be a gaming drive, but don't let that name fool you, it's just another external portable hard drive with still a spinning disc, not an SSD, but with a little higher than average read and write speeds. It's formatted out of the box to work well with Playstation, Xbox, as well as the PC, but it'll also work with Mac with a little bit of formatting. I would recommend the EXFAT format if you want to use this between Mac and PCs

 I feel like this could probably take a bump or two in a rucksack. I wouldn't want to drop it as a mechanical hard drive. But it's probably quite hardy. But beyond that, honestly, there's no reason to buy this over a cheaper hard drive at all

 My issue with this is that they're charging £90 for a 2TB hard drive. Why? This is a standard 2.5 inch mechanical hard drive. There is nothing special about this at all

OKAY STORAGE DRIVE

 It is SATA 600 verses SATA 300, which are most Ext HDDs. While the experts say a HDD cannot meet either spec, I did manage to get around 113MB/s on a large file transfer so that is close to advertised. I think the SATA 600 must have helped as my 5400RPM drives have trouble meeting that transfer rate. Otherwise well made

Good storage piece, most modern games are to large of a file to be played straight from the device, you will need to transfer back to Xbox in order to play great for storing games you no longer play but don’t want to just uninstall. Comes with expired Xbox pass.

Good device, for average gamer

First, I build and repair a lot of computers and electronics for family and friends. I ALWAYS use Western Digital drives when building or replacing a hard drive. I usually use the "Black" series of drives for performance, durability, and the warranty. These drives last well past their warranties with decent performance for a conventional platter drive

 For the first time, I've gone all digital with my PS4 games to reduce the number of game cases and disks around. I also like to have all of the games available without re-downloading, so this makes digital storage capacity at the console critical for me.  Hooking up this drive, formatting it, and moving games over from the internal PS4 HD was much easier than I had anticipated. Downloading games from PSN to the external hard drive is also seamless

 This is a much better option than cutting up the PS4's case to fit the height of a 4TB internal replacement. In addition, Sony did a nice job in making this approach a well supported option for expanding the PS4's storage capacity.

You can't go wrong with Western Digital

  I like the look of the drive. It's small and barely noticeable.  Speed is about what I would have expected. Other reviews provide a lot more benchmarking data than I ever would bother gathering

In a mostly-silent room, from even a distance of 10ft or so away, I can just hear the drive spinning. You cannot expect a physically-moving drive to be silent, and I knew there would be light noise

If you need TBs of space, you probably need this until the SSD market catches up
