 The keys have a linear level design and feel very nice to type on. The typing experience is light with the Brown switches, but the ergonomics of the board aren&#39;t the best. Basically, I want a keyboard with a layout of the Alienware AW768 (programmable keys and media controls are a must) with a removable cable. If Dell made an Alienware AW768 with a removable cable, I'd buy that. I could splurge and get one with a similar build quality to the Vortex Tab 90M, but not a huge issue. And yes, I could use the Vortex as my daily driver, but I would prefer to have a keyboard with a traditional full layout, and not the compact layout of the Vortex

On my Vortex, I really like the build quality of it. It is an expensive keyboard, and it sure feels like it. I don't use the multiple layers at all, but it is a neat feature. I got it because of how compact it is with a full layout and easily fits in my backpack for work

How do the heights of the Ducky One 2 TKL and the Varmilo VA87M compare? I'm about to get my first mechanical keyboard, and was at first looking at the Keychron K2. After reading some reviews, it sounds like many people don't like the height of the Keychron, but according to Mechanicalkeyboards.com, the Ducky is almost as tall as the Keychron. Since I haven't seen any reviews mentioning height of the Ducky, I wanted to check if it's just a different way of measuring or something. I prefer the price and color scheme of the Ducky, so if it's unlikely to be too tall, I'd just as soon use that. I share an office with my wife, do a bit of typing for emails, and do a lot of CAD work (so I need the F1-F12 keys). On the weekend, I use a Mac, but it sounds like I can do some software remapping on the Mac to make a standard windows layout work for me. Hi! I’m looking for my first (and maybe endgame lol) mechanical keyboard, I’m a software developer and will pay decently for something that just improves my quality of life at my desk a bit. Thinking probably up to ~£150/$175 but will stretch a little if it’s super worth it.

- I can solder so I’m open to DIY if the end result is worth it
- Would prefer a metal case for that premium feel but not a dealbreaker
- Form factor is flexible, probably thinking around 65%, currently I’m an arrow key guy but can probably adapt. Smaller looks nicer and good looks are nice.
- RGB is not a dealbreaker, would be nice to have but I prefer some of the styles that don’t have RGB
- GB layout would be very nice, I’m assuming this would need a custom cap set?

Have looked at things like the Ducky Mecha Mini, Durgod Hades 68, the Leopold FC750R (plastic case, but seems a safe choice) is also an option. I really liked the look of the Tada68, apparently it’s discontinued now?

Any recommendations?

What's the name of the split columnar keyboard layout that has a thumb cluster that's all in one row with an exaggerated arc?  The Rorschach sorta fits this bill, but I seem to remember the columns being staggered, and it was larger than 4x6 on each like the Rorschach.

Looking for a new keyboard

Must haves:

* Full keyboard layout
* Removable cable
* Media keys (would really prefer a scroll wheel)
* Cherry Mx Clear switches or similar

Strong preferences:

* Backlight (not necessarily RGB, but able to light up in the dark as I like to work with low light/in the dark)

With working from home being in my future for quite a while, I ~~need~~ want a new keyboard. I currently have an [Alienware AW768](https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alienware-pro-gaming-keyboard-aw768/apd/580-agjp/gaming) (with Cherry Mx Brown switches) as my daily driver. I also have a [Vortex Tab 90M](https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&amp;p=4558) (with Cherry Mx Clear switches) that I do not use as much since that is my work/travel keyboard. The issue for me currently is that I have my own PC and my work's laptop both on my desk/setup. I would normally have to unplug my Alienware from one computer to the other. I am getting kinda tired of this, and I also do not want to deal with two keyboards on my desk or having to move the work keyboard on/off my desk everyday. What I want is a keyboard with a removable cable so I can simply unplug/plug the computer I need for the moment.

On my Alienware, I really like the media keys and the programmable keys. I use both all the time, and they are a big reason why I like this keyboard.

<p>With working from home being in my future for quite a while, I <del>need</del> want a new keyboard. I currently have an <a href="https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/alienware-pro-gaming-keyboard-aw768/apd/580-agjp/gaming">Alienware AW768</a> (with Cherry Mx Brown switches) as my daily driver. I also have a <a href="https://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&amp;amp;p=4558">Vortex Tab 90M</a> (with Cherry Mx Clear switches) that I do not use as much since that is my work/travel keyboard. The issue for me currently is that I have my own PC and my work&#39;s laptop both on my desk/setup. I would normally have to unplug my Alienware from one computer to the other. I am getting kinda tired of this, and I also do not want to deal with two keyboards on my desk or having to move the work keyboard on/off my desk everyday. What I want is a keyboard with a removable cable so I can simply unplug/plug the computer I need for the moment.</p>

<p>On my Alienware, I really like the media keys and the programmable keys. I use both all the time, and they are a big reason why I like this keyboard.</p>

<p>On my Vortex, I really like the build quality of it. It is an expensive keyboard, and it sure feels like it. I don&#39;t use the multiple layers at all, but it is a neat feature. I got it because of how compact it is with a full layout and easily fits in my backpack for work. I also like the Clear switches a bit more than the Brown switches on my Alienware.</p>

<p>Basically, I want a keyboard with a layout of the Alienware AW768 (programmable keys and media controls are a must) with a removable cable. If Dell made an Alienware AW768 with a removable cable, I&#39;d buy that. I could splurge and get one with a similar build quality to the Vortex Tab 90M, but not a huge issue. And yes, I could use the Vortex as my daily driver, but I would prefer to have a keyboard with a traditional full layout, and not the compact layout of the Vortex.</p>

Does anyone have any experience with putting Novelkey Creams into a Drop CTRL? I got the 70 Key switch tester from KBD fans and instantly fell in love with the creams but I havent seen much online about putting creams into one of these.

The stem of my cherry black switch popped out when switching a keycap from my Leopold FC750R. Is there a way for me to put it back in without desoldering and taking the whole keyboard apart?

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'll put it here anyway:

So I got some Gateron Silent Reds on a keypad recently, but the switch on my left key seems a bit faulty and not smooth to click, feeling weird friction every time I press, and it sometimes makes a strange sound when I try to bottom out. It's hard to describe since I have no experience/knowledge with switches, and I'm not really sure whether this is what people refer to as 'scratchiness' which they say solves itself out over time, or whether my switch is just plain broken. I have no clue if a video would help demonstrate what I mean or if scratchiness is identifiable through the sound of the switch, but I've supplied one below anyway:

I'm looking to buy a new keyboard to replace my current 2016 Blackwidow, my main issues with it are how loud it is and how much space it takes up on my desk. I'm looking into fixing these issues by finding a keyboard that has a **TKL form-factor**  and **silent switches** such as the Cherry Silent Reds, unfortunately **my budget spans up to $110 CAD** and I can't find anything that meets that criteria, would anyone mind suggesting some keyboards along with attaching some amazon links to check out?

How do I properly pull out keycaps lmao. I have the Razer keycap puller (plastic) and the GMMK keycap puller (also plastic) and the GMMK one seems to have a better grip while the Razer one sometimes gives and I just end up yanking the puller without the keycap. Is there smth I'm doing wrong?

I would just change the text to black, and if you make the key caps profile DSA or Cherry, I'd be all over that.
