I am going to finally buy skis. 48m, 5'10", 195lbs.  I typically ski blue groomers out west. I've never skied a black diamond(on purpose) and sometimes have a little trouble on steep blues.  I am looking for skis that offer good stability, easy turning and are somewhat forgiving. I am still working on graceful smooth looking turns. I'll most likely ski in Steamboat and Mammoth this year. But I have an Icon pass so hopefully I'll get to a few more places. What are some good skis to consider?  Thanks for the help.

This is an excellent ski for your advanced to expert level skier who wants something that's just ultra damp, ultra smooth for ripping on the front side of the mountain. 80mm underfoot, you get a lot of agility there. It has a teetall frame which only reinforces the metal on the outside of the ski and then 3D ridge technology which gives you this little raised ridge in the middle

I got volkl deacon xt in 168, 76 width. I’m on the east coast with a lot of icy snow. That was a complete waste of $. Just after a week, when I started to go faster, the skis were chattering, skidding and catching the lines left by other ppl

 So they've lowered it from the RTMs of the past. So you're closer to the snow, better snow feel, better precision. But overall for that intermediate all the way to expert level skier, this Deacon 80 is just a fantastic on snow, on trail ski, firmer snow, no problem. Just a fantastic carver

 But for an 80 millimeter underfoot ski, there's definitely a good amount of rocker in that tip and tail. So really fun and playful, super quick and light because of that glass frame. The 3D ridge, this ridge part that sticks up from the central part of the ski here really does a great job with damping the vibrations and keeping the ski smooth and stable. It's kind of pegged in that intermediate to advanced category, but we've seen a lot of expert skiers, especially in our testing here, that really like this ski

 This is a returning model for 2021, a little bit of a graphics refresh, but same build. So if you enjoyed it from last year, you're in luck because it's the same ski. The Deacon 80 is just the narrower version of the 84. The big difference is we've replaced the titanal frame with a fiberglass frame

 One of the things that helps with that is the tip and tail rocker. So we got for a carving ski, having this tip and tail rocker doesn't really do so much for flotation as much as it does for turn initiation. But for an 80 millimeter underfoot ski, there's definitely a good amount of rocker in that tip and tail. So really fun and playful, super quick and light because of that glass frame
