 And the flimsier spare tire valve stems is a real pain. The amount of work necessary to create a good seal is burdensome with the press-on chuck and even once it's on right, it still takes a good amount of time longer than the 70P somehow. I do like the LED work light and the improved, however, and the sturdier design of the cigarette lighter plug, compared to the 70P (a broken plug is why I needed a new pump). In the future (or maybe before) I will not buy the press-on style chuck

 I bought it due to the wirecutter recommendation and this is not the first time I have been disappointed by the build quality of a wirecutter top choice. All of my bicycle pumps are constructed much sturdier. The valve lock requires a bit of work to get it seated right and I sometimes need to make several attempts before for there is a good connection. Otherwise it's worth having--really nice not to have to go to the gas station every time

I've used this twice and it does get the job done, but the connection between the compressor hose and the tire valve is very fragile looking and of questionable quality. I don't expect it to last long and it will render the rest of the unit unusable. Adequate air pump for the money

  The cord length from the plug to the unit is adequate so that I could move the unit to all 4 tyres of the car without having to unplug. This was just about possible on a Mazda 6 (Gen 1) and BMW 3 Series (E90), so with larger cars you will need to move the unit and reroute the plug through a different door/window. I had no build concerns on the cord or plug.  The air hose length from unit to valve connector was also adequate and allowed me to reach a valve at the top of the wheel if necessary (since you don't know where the valve will be on the rotation of your wheel when it stops!)

 You might struggle a bit with an SUV with particularly large wheels, but then again I think this model is not designed for them. The rubber hose seems strong.

 You have to guess what your actual pressure is. Now when you turn the unit off, the reading will still be too high. You will need to disconnect the valve connector and reconnect to get a reliable reading again. You will probably find you did not guess the actual pressure correctly and will need to repeat this process

 I'm not confident whether it would stand the test of time of a year or two, which is what I would hope a $50 air compressor should certainly last. I know the 77P has a screw on connector. If it is brass, it is probably a better option. If not, then avoid because it will be even more fragile

I wanted to love this item but the gauge lets this product down

 My practically empty 255/35/18's were up to 40# in the blink on an eye. The built in pressure gauge is very accurate for what it is. (checked with my nice digital gauge.) The power cord and air hoses are long enough to do the job

 Well constructed, great size for stuffing in the back of the car. Solid zippers. BUT - because of the generous air hose length, sometimes it can be a puzzle to fit the unit back in the case quickly. A little frustrating trying to cram everything back in if you're in a hurry
