 So it seems that VeloTrick really try to walk a lot of fine lines with the Discover One. And what I mean by that is it isn't a full-blown cruiser nor is it a full-blown commuter. It takes good aspects of both of these bikes and really combines them into one that could be one or the other depending on how you want it to ride. One of the beautiful things about this is you could very well want to be on a cruiser bike one day and you might be wanting to commute on that bike the next day

 I feel like it's an appropriate size for this bike as well. Kind of wrapping things up here, this is obviously a low step frame where I feel like Velotrix done a wonderful job integrating the battery and also keeping it very structurally sound. These welds here, everything going on in the low step part of it really screams that it's overbuilt to ensure that it isn't going to fold in on you because you don't have a top bar on a bike like this. It's step through, so it needs to be reinforced down there, which it is

 I'm going to assume we're using pretty much all of that, plus maybe some more on this hill climb test because I am just hovering above six miles per hour now. Definitely stressing the motor out quite a bit. So I think maybe a little faster acceleration characteristics would really improve this thing's hill climbing ability. Simply because the more momentum it has going into the hill, the less the motor is going to have to work to keep that momentum going forward

 So we are at 15 miles per hour now, 12 miles per hour. We're losing speed pretty quick and VeloTrick says this bike is able to produce up to 65 newton meters of torque from that motor here. I'm going to assume we're using pretty much all of that, plus maybe some more on this hill climb test because I am just hovering above six miles per hour now. Definitely stressing the motor out quite a bit

 Between the two results, you should have a good idea as to how the VeloTrick Discover One is on hill climbs. All righty, guys, we are to the bottom of our test hill on the VeloTrick Discover One and we are going to see how this 500 watt rear hub motor boosts us up the hill on throttle only and in pedal assist level five. 500 watt motors are around the average size that we usually test. So it will be very interesting to see how this one compares to the rest

Velotric Discover 1 Review | Electric Step Thru Bike (2021)

 Hey, what's going on bikers? Pierce here at Electric Bike Report and today we have the VeloTrick Discover One.

 The Discover One is somewhere in between a cruiser and a commuter.

 It looks like a commuter, but it feels like a cruiser as far as how comfortable it is.

 I'm going to get into all the little details of this bike and how it performs in the review, so let's get started.

 So it seems that VeloTrick really try to walk a lot of fine lines with the Discover One.

 And what I mean by that is it isn't a full-blown cruiser nor is it a full-blown commuter.

 It takes good aspects of both of these bikes and really combines them into one that could be one or the other depending on how you want it to ride.

 One of the beautiful things about this is you could very well want to be on a cruiser bike one day and you might be wanting to commute on that bike the next day.

 So between the way they've designed this bike and how comfortable it is, I think it's a great median in between that commuter and that cruiser.

 So the VeloTrick Discover One comes with a 500 watt motor.

 It's a rear hub motor and VeloTrick claims this motor can produce up to 65 Newton meters of torque.

 In English, basically this motor should have enough wattage and enough torque to flatten any hill and ensure you can get up any steep grade without having to work too hard.

 After all, that's the purpose of an e-bike, right?

 With that being said, 500 watt motors are relatively standard.

 And one thing I've learned throughout my time being an electric bike reviewer is not all motors are created equal.

 So to see where this 500 watt motor stacks up to the rest of the competition, we took it to one of the steepest hills in town known as Hell Hole.

 Hell Hole is a quarter mile long and averages in between a 12 percent and a 15 percent grade.

 We do this hill climb twice, one with the throttle only and the other with rider assist.

 Between these two tests, this gives us a very good idea of how this motor is able to perform on its own power and how it's able to perform with human input.

 Between the two results, you should have a good idea as to how the VeloTrick Discover One is on hill climbs.

 All righty, guys, we are to the bottom of our test hill on the VeloTrick Discover One and we are going to see how this 500 watt rear hub motor boosts us up the hill on throttle only and in pedal assist level five.

 500 watt motors are around the average size that we usually test.

 So it will be very interesting to see how this one compares to the rest.

 So a little slower acceleration than what I'm used to with a 500 watt motor.

 But those who don't want to get blown off the back of the bike might like that a little bit slower motor acceleration characteristic.

 It does make me wonder how this baby is going to do on the steep part of the hill here.
