Folks, over there, 200 bucks is what they charged me for this pack and, like I said, I'm looking forward to trying it this weekend.

So there you have it, the Ula Dragonfly 30 liter backpack.

The second reason I replaced it is because I now have my dream bag (okay, one of my dream bags) from ULA Equipment, the ULA Dragonfly. Has a large space that is perfect for packing cubes and dry bags, has perfect carry-on dimensions (for my needs), ample outside storage space for water bottles and other types of gear when I'm hiking, and since it's designed for short torsos as a default, it fits me even better than my Patagonia backpack.

Both bags are well made, but the Dragonfly is WAY more comfortable hiking around under full load. If you are a bigger guy with broad shoulders like I am the Osprey straps are going to bother you walking around for any length of time. The ULA also has a "brain bucket" style pouch that makes for easier access to cords and documents, and a dedicated laptop compartment near your back. In my mind both of these are improvements over my old Osprey Farpoint 40.

Price for the Dragonfly also increased to $200, but they made some upgrades like silent zipper pulls, beefier #8 zipper on panel loading section, and others. I can confirm the new changes when I receive my RX40 next week. ULA customer service is top notch and they usually get back same day, but they must be more busy recently.

So much easier to get to things without unpacking everything. I recently ordered the [ULA and am anxiously waiting to receive it; the clamshell opening with an undivided, deeper main compartment was one of the reasons I chose it.

​. I recently went through my trusty old travel bags and got rid of some older heavy models and replaced with lighter. My latest buy is a ULA dragonfly.... which comes in at just 29oz. It may be worth considering.

I have the ULA Dragonfly and absolutely love how it carries. It’s also the same general design as a pack I’ve walked over 10,000 miles with. Can’t go wrong there
