Turbo Vado SL

Specialized's Vado is an awesome bike. Slick package, proper warranty, support your local bike shop, etc. The Vado SL is a nice bike too, and you can pop a range extender into it if you want more range.

The first ebike I ever rode was the Vado 4 SL and it was a lot of fun. However, I didn't really notice a lot until I put it on the highest turbo setting, then it felt amazing. At lower settings, I felt just a slight bit more "oomph" but nothing that really excited me. But the thing I really liked about the Vado was that it is fairly light and looks a lot like my other (non electric) fitness bikes.

Trek's entry level Verve or the Vado / Vado SL would be a likely entry point. The Bosch motors are great and I have had zero issues even riding in typhoons. Brose motors can have belt issues but are great. The SL motors while not as powerful as the others are great on the road and make you work off road.

I am a full-time no-car driving cyclist for commuting, errands, work and so forth. I wanted a bike that could be pedaled without issue, and the Vado SL does this for me. You can turn it off while moving and it just slows down a little and you can keep right on going, and it weighs less or the same as most mountain bikes.

Vado SL has the same mentality in the way the motor acts under you, it makes you make work and pushes it about +200% so basically its such a electric bike that will still keep you fit, compared to most electric bikes that does all the work for you. If there is a Specialized dealer you should ask if you are able to test them.

[Specialized SL go up tp 45km/h in the US (28mph) and those might be the kind of bike you are looking for. The Vado SL can be bought with or without fenders. The Creo SL is a true rocket, after passing the assistance limit (25km/h) I was cruising at 50 without a sweat.

I have the vado 4.0 sl. I would recommend if you want to use it to get fit. 2x power is actually a ton once you you've built up a bit of stamina/strength.

Vado SL 5.0 owner here. I too was worried about the power, but as it turns out I mostly ride with the power level off except for hills on my return trip.

The Turbo Vado SL is a fantastic bike, although the SL line is very focused on providing a "minimal" ebike experience. That is to say, the SL line is built to ride and feel like a regular bike, with a drive system that is designed to provide some help.

An ebike will get you out on two wheels more overall - mine always puts a smile on my face and a little sweat on my brow. Something like a Specialized Turbo Vado SL is like a regular sporty bike, with a little bit of help. I strongly recommend.
