I've read that Tribosys 3203 is the way to go for switch lubricant and not lubing the leaf of the tactile switches to keep the same feeling. I've also seen those things you shim in between switch housings to decrease wobble, what is that and is it necessary?.

How do you determine if keycaps are compatible with your keyboard?

I want to buy a Varmilo Vintage Days VA87M, and then replace the caps with the Big Bone keycap set. It looks like they will fit, but is there a way to know for sure?

PRE-BUILT KEYBOARD SUGGESTIONS PLZ

Hi, I'm new to this. All I want is a premium 65% keyboard. I want it to be wireless, not loud, and I want keycaps that look vintage (like old white and gray). I don't really care about RGBs. Also, I don't want the small shift keys I see on some. I wanted to go with the akko 3068, but I heard you can't easily program it. And since I usally don't type in English, if I go for 65% I'm gonna need a way to replace the "\~" key. Any suggestions ? Thanks :) I'm welling to spend 150 USD. Also, I've thought about 60% keyboards, but I don't see how I can live without the arrow keys, if you can convince me I don't need it, I might go for 60%, but I don't think I'm ready.

I was looking to replace both the keycaps and the switches that it comes with for Hyperx Pudding keycaps and I'm still deciding between the Kailh Burnt Oranges, Box Jades, or Box Royals (I know thats a wide spread but part of me wants a not too loud of a keyboard). Is there something that could be similar in price (around $105 USD) for a package without switches and keycaps that would have the same features as the K8? Aluminum build would be nice but not necessary.

I am working on my new Ergodox EZ that I traded a  HHKB for.

What I am thinking about is switching out the Kalih Browns with either Holy Pandas, Zilents V2 67gm, or Box Burnt Orange switches. Not asking for advice on that since I'm ordering them all, yeah a bit overboard.

What I'm wondering is how do I make it sound like Taeha Types? I've read that Tribosys 3203 is the way to go for switch lubricant and not lubing the leaf of the tactile switches to keep the same feeling. There are no stabilizers on the Ergodox so I don't need to worry about that rabbit hole, and the plastic plate on the Ergodox really suits me coming from my beloved HHKB. What I hope is that the feel of the Ergodox will be able to compete with my HHKB Type-S.

I've never used a mechanical keyboard, but it seems that a tactile keyboard would be the best for me as it seems to be in the middle. What should I consider buying? I've been looking at the corsair MK2 RGB but I see minimal improvements over their previous offerings so I was wondering whether you guys know of any other keyboards that are just as good or better for typing and gaming.

I currently have a Keychron K4 with Gateron blue switches. I like the board but after looking at the amassment of awesome keyboards I have been thinking about the possibilities of going full custom and making a board of my own. I know I want a 96% and a metal case and have found where to get them, but I am unsure of what switches to buy. I like the idea of click bar switches such as the Kailh box Whites, Jades, and Navy's, but I have read online about issues with the stems damaging keycaps. How worried should I be about this? If the damage is a real concern, what would a good alternative be to box white/jade/navy?

Hello, I am going to buy a new keyboard (my first mechanical keyboard lol) and I have the choice between the "Speedlink Orios Opto-mechanical RGB" and the "Mionix Wei Cherry MX Red RGB".
I saw that the Speedlink's switches are very (for some people too much) responsive (it needs ~40g to be activated vs 45g for the Cherry MX Red). I really don't know which one should I choose. I can have the Orios for €59 and the Mionix Wei fot €69.

I'm hoping you all can help me find the perfect starter keyboard within my fairly specific requirements. I have spent the last few years using my first mechanical keyboard, the Red Dragon Kumara K552. At first it was really cool to experience mechanical keys in all their blue clicky glory. But since then I have been spending an amazing amount of time drooling over and learning about all the significantly better products there are out there.

One day down the road I intend to go full enthusiast and build a board from the case up. But to do that would cost more than I can afford right now, especially with how many pretty parts I could see myself splurging on if given the chance. So to satiate my burning desire for a better board, I need your expertise in the keyboard markets.

What I'm looking for is a pre-built board with these features:

1. 60%-65% board. 65% is preferred, I want compact but I love them arrow keys, and generic TKL layouts don't hit the right spot for me.
2. Hot swap sockets, but not outemu or optical because I want to be able to use a wider range of switches and try new ones in the future.
3. I would prefer it to come with heavy tactile or linear switches, but that won't matter as much because I intend to get a few switch sets to swap between on a whim later.  
4. PBT key caps, they don't have to be pretty but I want the PBT feel. But I would love it if they were at least not monochromatic. Ideally I would like a set up like this [GK64](https://www.amazon.com/Gateron-Optical-Backlight-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B085BN1KHG/)
5. Full RGB-tasticness

[Kemove Snowfox](https://www.amazon.com/Snowfox-Bluetooth-Wireless-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B083J9Y796) \- This one is good enough that I am considering buying it, but I'm coming here for advice first. My only issues with this one are that it's lacking the arrow keys, it's monochrome, and the preloaded switches are pretty limited, but on their website there's a black switch which would be a decent starter for me.

I’m looking to build a 60% or 65% board but I’m having trouble finding decent aluminum cases. I’ve looked at the Tofu 65% which was my first option but it’s out of stock currently. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction and give me some ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a Drop Alt a while back. Saw they came out with a black version, which looked pretty cool. Mine just came in today from Amazon. I thought they might have done something in the interim to solve the ping issue on the board, but if anything, this one is even worse than the original Alt I had. I shouldn't have to put in an additional $50-$75 worth of material to solve this issue for a board at this price point. I was just planning to use this board as a temporary filler until my next one came in, thinking I should have followed my gut and gone with a cheap Drevo or something while I waited.

I've recently purchased a Ducky One 2 full size keyboard, with cherry mx blacks. I'm relatively new to mechanical keyboards, and really only know what I've seen in videos. It seems like most people say that if I wanted to lube my switches I would need to de-solder them, and then pull them apart to lube. I've also heard that some people have lubed their soldered switches by pressing in the stem and using lubes like super lube to coat the inside.   


what is the downside to the latter option? what risk does de-soldering pose for my board/switches?   


Also if I wanted to clip/bandaid mod my stabs would I need to de-solder any switches for that too? or could I do that from through the plate?

Looking for a good keyboard that is similar to a regular work keyboard (HP/Dell) with silent cherry mx red switches.

Are newer Cherry MX switches less smooth than older ones? I just built up a new board with MX Clears (that I bought two weeks ago off Novelkeys with theyr most recent restock) and it feels way, way scratchier than my 10-month-old iKBC CD108 keyboard with MX Clears (which presumably also used an older batch of switches). I suppose a lot of it can be wear, but even the lesser used keys on my CD108 feel much less scratchy than on this new keyboard.

Has anyone ever modded a Logitech keyboard that can give me pointers? I want to mod my Logitech G512, currently with Kailh Browns. Reason being is that I want to keep the Lightsync, and I like how the board looks. I just want it to feel and sound better. My plan is to desolder the old switches with a soldering iron and a solder sucker, and replace the switches with lubed/filmed Drop Halo Trues. I have solder paste for convenience to resolder the new switches. Opinions on this switch? Theyvare on sale on Drop atm. I have researched and like how they sound when modded, and the tactile bump on them seems to be what I'm looking for. I also want to insulate the keyboard for maximum thock. What is best to use, and how thick should it be?
