**Trek Fuel EX 8:** At $3,900, the highest priced bike on my list. Only comes with a Fox 34 but full Shimano XT for the drive train.

Fuel ex can do it all. I ride Squamish and Whistler with some guys who are on hard tails. Granted they are very capable but a bike like that won’t hold you bad. Make upgrades as you see fit

A lot of Trek mountain bikes are pretty ugly. I rented a really expensive Fuel EX the other week...bike was worth over 5k and had this really ugly red/black paint job

At 6 foot 4 Norco XL's should be fine on any of their more modern bikes.

Nothing wrong that at all, just that you should know what you are looking at and potentially getting into. The Fuel Ex 8 is a trail category bike with somewhat conservative frame geometry at the bare limit of what I'd consider modern.

Handling massive jumps most likely will never be on my agenda, I just want to have a good time. I have found some bikes like the Commencal Meta TR or the Norco Sight A3 or the Trek Fuel EX 8 XT which seem to might be a good fit, but as the first two are more on the heavier side of things I am not sure how enjoyable the uphill will be. As opposite I have looked at the Canyon Lux Trail CF 6 which will available in autumn or at the Rose Ground Control which are lighter but with lesser travel. Other bikes I liked like the Canyon Spectral 29 CF 7.0 are no longer produced and I would have to wait for the next year's model to have a shot of getting one, but that one seemed to be a good mixture of lightweight and travel.

Sounds like you bought too much bike for your needs.. I did the same thing when I get the Fuel EX 8 and Stumpjumper. Now I have a Scott Spark that's much lighter and easier to handle and since I don't have crazy downhill trails near me, it's the perfect bike for my type of riding.. You bought an all mountain, heavy Enduro bike that's meant to take a beating.

I have a fuel ex 8 GX and absolutely love it. Climbs like a beast and rips down blue trails like nothing. Handles everything I’ve thrown at it so far.
