I can’t afford All-Clad, but want to buy some stainless steel pots and pans.

 The lid handle and main handle do get very hot, also the smooth edge might benefit from a slight lip to lessen dripping down the sides when pouring from the pan. Overall happy with the purchase just need to take basic precautions.

My girlfriend and I are starting to get things for our first apartment (a while before we move, so we have time to shop/order), and one thing we still need is a set of pots and pans. The only pots we found that I liked were at IKEA (stainless lids, I don't want glass because I know with us they're not going to last and my parents still have their all-stainless set from before I was born), but we've seen pans everywhere at different prices and made with different materials. There are relatively cheap copper-lined pans, pretty expensive stainless, relatively cheap nonstick-covered pans, and some expensive cast iron (out of what we've seen). What would last us a decent amount of time without breaking the bank? What's easiest to use and care for? I don't want to replace them every 5 years, but I don't want to pay a fortune for them, either...

Help me choose a frying pan/pot

I bought the Tramontina 2-quart saucepan. And while the quality is absolutely obvious, this is so heavy, I found that it's a bit difficult to hand-wash. It's like the handle hasn't been designed to balance the pot so that you can confidently move the pot around. I bought this after seeing a similar All-Clad pot in a local store, then deciding to look elsewhere after looking at its price, and then picking myself up off of the floor after fainting

 I went back to that store after using this Tramontina a few times, and I sure got the impression that the All-Clad pot was noticeably lighter than the Tramontina version. I haven't tried to verify this with actual published weight numbers, but I would recommend that anyone who might have trouble dealing with a substantially heavier-than-usual pot should consider the weight of this pot carefully before proceeding with an order.

New to stainless steel cookware. Cool mostly with cast iron and uh..... non stick (soon to be a former nonstick cook as I am moving completely away!). I have 2 and 4 qt pots in stainless. I just want a 12” stainless fry pan to complete my cookware. I can’t decide between these 3 brands and obviously All clad will most likely be most recommended. But... being fairly new to stainless cooking just afraid that I might not like it and investing in an expensive pan like all clad might not be wise. But maybe I’ll love it! I’m leaning towards being patient and finding an all clad at a thirt store. Between Cuisinart and Tramontina, it’s really a toss up for me right now. Both seem quality and the only real difference would be preference in handle which I still need to go test at a store. 

Also, need a bigger stock pot. Thinking 8qt should be enough as 12 just seems to big. I really only do pasta in this. I don’t see any reason to buy an expensive stock pot. What are your thoughts on just buying any big stock pot from Goodwill? Anything I should keep an eye out for?
