 This is pecan We got hickory in there right now. So I can't wait to get to the pecan. This thing is a little heavy and One problem we have been having is The little rubber feet coming off. I'm gonna go grab them out of the toolbox and I'll show you so we got these little little Rubber feet that go on the bottom They keep coming off

 So I'm gonna need to figure out a way to get them to stay on there But it just helps for it not to slide around Got our power cord Now I'm gonna show you the inside of this thing real quick and then we'll get it plugged up Comes with two latches that keeps it closed This is a little grease trap that goes on the back side That catches the grease as it flows down this but I want to show you the inside first because I do need to clean out the ash from our last grill And you can see we got some still got some pellets in there got some ash a little bit of ash around I'm going to take our blower and I'm gonna blow this out real good Nice we got all of it cleaned out a few pellets came Came flying but Throw those back in there. They do have a smaller size But from what we read on It only goes you can only adjust the temperature in increments of 25 degrees Whereas this one allows you to do 5 degrees So you can dial in the temperature a lot closer to what you want when you're cooking your meats and stuff So I just figured having that extra added adjustability would be great for it I'm no expert at barbecue. Believe me, but this thing turns your average Joe into a grill master almost but This is a catches your grease runoff

Let’s face it, they suck at searing.  Aside from giving steaks a shitty tier, you risk a grease fire, particularly when you go from low/medium to high in 15 mins. 

Fuck that noise

So here is what I recommend to get a proper sear on your favorite foods

1. Use a cast iron on your stove inside.  You can get to super high temps while also providing an even sear across your meats.  I recommend using an oil that can handle high heat like avocado oils.

2. Get a small propane grill.  Those are fucking awesome at high heat and you can do everything outdoors if that is your preference.

Edit: The purpose of a sear is to get direct high heat source to the surface facing the heat. With a cast iron on the stove or a propane style grill, that high heat is directly concentrated on the bottom surface of the meat, thus providing a sear. With a pellet grill, the heat is like a convection oven which circulates and does not provide that direct to bottom surface heat source.

PSA: Stop attempting to “sear” on your traeger. They are not equipped to do so and even when you get it to 500 degrees, it provides a shit tier sear.

I've done reviews on both of them on my channel, but I keep getting asked the question, which one is better? Which one do you recommend? Well, we're going to get to the bottom of it today. So stay tuned

 All right, now to give you some rough measurements of the outside of the Traeger Ranger and the Traeger Tailgater. For you RV guys, for example, you may be wondering if it's going to fit in your under compartment of your RV or something. So this is going to be rough estimates of the dimensions of the outside of the Traeger Ranger. That's roughly 20 inches wide by about, I'll go to this side, about 12 and a half inches tall

 A lot of questions that I get about both of these grills is how much will it hold? Can I fit this on it? And so I just figured it would be better if I just get the tape measure out and just film a little bit of video taking measurements of the inside, the outside, and all of that stuff. So get your notepads out, get your pen or pencil, and be ready to take some notes because I'm fixing to give you all the dimensions. All right, now to give you some rough measurements of the outside of the Traeger Ranger and the Traeger Tailgater. For you RV guys, for example, you may be wondering if it's going to fit in your under compartment of your RV or something

 So these are not brand new grills. Both of these grills have cooked a lot of meals on their own rites. We've eaten a lot of meals off of both of them. We love both of them

 And let me tell you, this Traeger ranger did not disappoint. Are used it three times in the first three weeks I’ve had it and all my meat has came out excellent! One thing that isn’t the greatest is the temperature fluctuates during cook time and the actual temperature is not always accurate with what is displayed. I called customer service and they said actual temperature and reading temperature may vary by 20° at times. No I’m not a master smoker or cooker but 20° seems like quite a bit to me

 Stay tuned. Alright, now I've had this Traeger Ranger for a couple of weeks now, so this is not going to be an unboxing review. Everybody's seen an unboxing by now, and if you don't know how to unbox something, well, this may be a little advanced for you already. So, we're going to skip the unboxing process, but I just think that a review is not really a good review as far as the unboxing part goes, because that doesn't tell you how the thing really works

 But also the big thing for me is latching it down so it's not flopping around during transporting to a campsite or a tailgate party or anything like that. So one of the things that I really like about that is having these latches for this lid. There's venting on the back as well as on the sides right here. That's how the smoke gets out

 You've got latches on both sides right here to latch down the lid. You can latch it down to help it retain the smoke as well. But also the big thing for me is latching it down so it's not flopping around during transporting to a campsite or a tailgate party or anything like that. So one of the things that I really like about that is having these latches for this lid

 And I wanted to use it a couple of times, get to know the ins and outs of it, and be able to tell you how it really performs once you fire it up and get smoke rolling. I mean, I had seen them online, but when it got to me, it was actually bigger than I thought it was going to be
