 Along with all this in my personal experience, using these things out in the woods for a little bit, practicing making improvised shelters things along those lines, they're definitely a lot more durable than some of the other Mylar emergency blankets that I've used in the past I've seen some just, you know, get a small hole and just completely rip out. Inexpensive insurance!

I purchased the SOL Emergency blanket before my first big day hike for emergency purposes.  Thankfully I have not needed to use it since.  I cannot speak to how well it works outside of the packaging, but it packed quite easily in my hydration pack (much smaller packing limit than a normal day pack).

They are just for emergencies - thin, easy to pack, so no sacrifice really on space - but not that versatile - don't seem like they'd do a lot of uses, but not much does for emergencies - but a thin blanket microfiber wouldn't have the reflective for heat or cold either, so still a fair idea.

I keep a couple in our cars and my pack for protection from weather or treating trauma victims. Big enough to share with the right person.
