Thermoworks Signals vs Meater: Thoughts and opinions.

The bluetooth signal is not strong enough to connect from even a few feet away. When I talked to their support their solution was to have me buy the Meater+ charger for an additional $80 so that it can use it as a bluetooth repeater, or leave a 2nd cell phone within range of the probe and connect it to wifi and set up a cloud account. I opted for the latter option and it worked but was spotty enough that I eventually bought the Thermoworks Smoke instead.

Saw this deal on Amazon today.. I'd be all over it if I didn't already have a good thermo. Thought maybe someone here be in need of one though!

it's a perfectly fine thermo, and worked great, but the dependency on a smart phone app just rubbed me the wrong way. I've been using a Thermoworks Smoke for years and am very used to the dedicated receiver that I can see at a glance. with the smart phone app I have to pull out the phone and open the app for every temp check. If this had a dedicated receiver option, along with the wifi smartphone connection, it would be perfect...but if the choice is one or the other, I'll take the dedicated receiver.

Yes, invest in a good meat thermometer. Of the seven or eight I've used over the past two decades, the ThermoWorks Smoke is the best.
