Technics SL-D2

Very reliable. The main problem with it is the mat rot and you can pick up a new mat for like $25. And the pitch speed pot gets dirty so you get speed...

I've installed the brand new Audio Technica AT3600L cartridge and stylus.

Technics SL-D2. Changed the interconnects for a new set, ordered an AT-VM95E headshell/cartridge combo, some elbow grease and a drop of oil and I’m so happy.

I had one but I recently changed it for a Technics SL-D2 turntable. It's a good starter turntable. The pros are that it's very lightweight and has an integrated preamp.

I‘ve been running a VM95ML for a few months on my Technics SL-D2 now and today I finally found the time for an extended listening session, throwing some of my favourite records at it. My ears might just be easily pleased but I‘m astounded by what that unassuming setup can extract from my records. The ML managed to scrape all the lush synthy detail from Caroline Polachek‘s *Pang*, it gobbled up the warm and punchy beats of Loyle Carner‘s *Yesterday‘s Gone*, it even managed to convey the interplay of vocals on The National‘s *I am Easy to Find* better than the digital version of the album.

buy used brother! on ebay, technics sl d2 for example, much better than those u mentioned, also you can look for turntables with quartz locked speed or direct drive.

The advantage, though, is P-mount is \*much\* easier to adjust: essentially there is no adjustment necessary at all. 🙂. You could also look for some other nice Technics direct drive models, most are really good. Personally I like the older models best, such as SL-Q2, SL-Q3 and SL-D2 or SL-D3.

The later the turntable, closer you get to the 90s, the cheaper everyone made them. If the ones you are looking at are broken I would look for a Technics SL-D2 or a SL-B2. They were decently made and very little seems to go wrong with them. And what does is fairly easy to fix.
