Aesthetically pleasing, reliable, but in terms of technology, apparently, the same as my LP120X (not to mention the automatic functions of 1300). 2. Technics SL-1600/1700 mk1. Littlie bit more interesting than upper ones because of damping of platter and tonearm.

Best choice for a <500 USD beginner turntable?

Technics sl-1700 or sl-1700mk2 (fully automatic!) from FB Marketplace = $150

Audio Technica VM540ML Cartridge from Amazon = $250

Total = $400, if you want to upgrade to the VM740ML, that' will get you to $500.

Which I swiftly took to the same guy to clean, test and recap with higher quality caps. He mentioned having a freshly cleaned Technics SL-1700 turntable for a good price($160 which looks about half of what they fetch on the eBay).

Never had such a good sounding vinyl set up before.). I'm using it with a Puffin phono DSP, so it was easy to change the sound more to my liking by adjusting air down to -2 on the Puffin, but I'm pretty curious to hear if this will need to change as the cart breaks in more. Table is a Technics SL-1700 with stock cables. No idea what the capacitance is with the SL-1700, but the Puffin is 50 pF.

Upgrading my turntable after getting a crappy crosley, i want a turntable with anti skate and a tonearm weight adjustment, does anyone own a angel horn? Was planning to get the AT LP60X, but it does not have such adjustments and the ones they offer are out of my budget. I am a noob can someone help?

These are dependable and low-maintenance. For instance the Technics SL-Q2 or Q3, SL-1300 or SL-1700, SL-D2 or mid-range turntables from Sansui, Kenwood, Pioneer etc. You should maybe budget about $100 to $150 for one of these in good shape.
