Technics SL-1210MK2

Start stop switch and we'll just drop that anywhere and this turntable was obviously very well cared for. Switches look nice and clean.

So i have been looking for a Technics 1210 in great shape and was talking with a friend that told me he knew a guy who had a Technics turntable laying around almost unused, so i got in contact with him and ended up buying it. It was bought new 2009, so it's one of the last MK2's (got discontinued 2010). He has barely used it and it is complete with everything! Really happy that i found this!.

Technics 1200/1210 in good condition will keep you going indefinitely. The LP120 is a cheap copy of that, and you'll be able to gauge the leap in quality immediately.

After adjusting to fit the specified Technics 1210 overhang I set about comparing with a new-ish M44G with Jiko replacement stylus. Signal path is 1210 mk2 - Master Sounds Radius 2 Valve - Adam TV7 (not my usual listening speakers but wanted more accuracy for testing). I bought the VM95ML for ripping purposes but the differences in sound are so subtle I'm not convinced its worth the effort of swapping over when I want to record something. Am I missing something here?

And including that, the weight seems to be in the wrong direction, the numbers are turned to the wall, if you know what i mean. I can try to include pictures if you want! Oh btw, the turntable in question is a Technics SL-1210MK2.

I recently purchased a used Technics SL-1210 MK2 from Japanese eBay for around $250. It seemed like a deal, but after taking possession and setting it up, I noticed that my records tended to loop during playback. I did the tonearm movement test by dialing back the counterweight and setting the antiskate to 0, realizing that the movement of the tonearm was very stiff. After doing some research on here, it would appear likely that the tonearm bearings are shot and I will have to replace the whole thing.

It's a great little turntable for the price, especially if you'll find the USB connection useful. I'm using mine more than my Technics SL-1210 mk2 as of late!

At the upper end of that price range you could get a Technics SL-1200 or SL-1210, the ultimate DJ/hi-fi turntable known for both its ruggedness and sound quality.

I have both a Technics 1210 Mk2 and a MCS 6700 and both are mostly similar, but the MCS has added a and 10 inch record width setting, plus the controls (start, pitch, etc.) are place differently. Great to have two of these.
