**Technics SL-1200GR** My most recent, my 30th birthday present from my wonderful wife, and the table that ended my search for more. It's got an AT PTG33/ii on it and sounds so so good. I've heard much more expensive decks and they're different but not so much "better". One day I may get an ultra high dollar VPI but for now the 1200GR + P3 combo keeps me very very happy.

I looked at the P3 but ended up spending a little more and getting the Technics SL-1200GR. It's a good turntable.

Look at the Technics SL-1200GR, the Music Hall MMF-7.3, and the MoFi Ultradeck. As far as things to upgrade now or later though… the most important component for your sound quality *by a mile* is your speakers.

Great turntable. I'd say for the money that the RT85 simply cannot be beat. I have one that sits right next to my Technics Sl-1200gr and I enjoy them both.

I love this setup, and it has displaced all other stereo equipment I have as my favorite spot to listen to music.

I have the KAB fluid damper on my SL-1200GR, and would definitely recommend it. I use with the AT VM540ML cart, with original microline stylus, and the VMN50SH Shibata stylus. On a different turntable, I used to run a Shure M97xe, and was a fan of the damped stylus brush. It was helpful for a few semi-warped records in my collection.

As for pairing with the SL-1200GR, I have the less expensive SL-1200Mk7, and I think the Nagaoka MP-200 couldn't be a better match for it. The Schiit Mani phono preamp is also a good pairing. Here are a couple of tweaks I recommend, if you want to spend some money on your turntable:.
