New Dive Computer - recommendations?

Can also (probably) import any existing logs you have into it. Shearwater Perdix matches all of your requirements (little over budget with transmitter).

Were it me and I wanted air integration, I would suggest a Shearwater Perdix or Teric. If you do not care about air integration, the Shearwater Peregrine is a good option. Garmin makes some great computers but I have not used those. Suunto is another popular brand, but they are conservative (meaning less bottom time) compared to other computers and have had a relatively high number of recalls in the past few years.

Suunto Eon Core Diving Computer

My first computer was the Eon Core and my second was the Shearwater Perdix. I would never go back, for all the reasons people have already listed. Support from Suunto was a struggle and took over a month, even though my computer was giving me a permanent full screen error message and telling me not to dive (not saying I had violated a rule, explicitly saying the computer had failed).

Suunto Computers -- trust level

The Shearwater Perdix/Petrel are undoubtedly better for some things depending on your use cases. I upgraded when I was still diving within NDL because most of my diving is in cool, dark water even at rec depths and I just couldn't see the screen of the vyper in the dark without turning on the backlight - and the button for the backlight is small to hit with gloves on. Of course, on top of that the Shearwaters have features for mixed gas diving that the Vyper just doesn't have. If I was picking a dive computer from scratch, I would be asking myself a few questions - first, what kind of diving am I preparing for?

Purchasing used meant that I was able to afford all Atomic regs instead of lesser-quality (but still “good”) stuff…. And it helped me save money that I was able to put towards a Shearwater Perdix. There are tons of great deals out there, I really don’t know why anybody would purchase stuff brand new unless they were just rich and didn’t care.
