The sE V7 & V7x are great alternatives to the SM58/57, particularly better sound quality from the sE and has a supercardiod pickup pattern instead of cardioid. Overall great value and solid microphones.

We all know that the SM58 and SM57 are one of the best mics to use when it comes to durability and cost effective, but there are so many different mics out there we can’t really keep track of all of them. Don’t name any off brand, counterfeit types. I want to see what real brands that are similar or better than the SM58 and SM57 in your opinion.

Other than the SM58 and SM57, what mics, wired or wireless, do you consider to be durable and affordable for a live show production?

Could you guys please recommend some mics for using live for a quiet singer? We play electronic music with live drums so the music needs to be quite loud, but our singer has a nice quiet singing voice. Using SM58 usually results in feedback struggles. 
In the studio i usually use SM7b - maybe it’s possible to use it live too?

Live mic for a quiet singing voice?

 It was also a marginally hotter signal than the other mics and rejected feedback better than all of them. It will be my live vocal Mic of choice going forward for lead vocals. I was very pleasantly surprised by how good this mic is.

I purchased this mic for the clearer and more detailed sound its specs suggested over a traditional Shure SM58. I compared it in my studio and through my band's live pa set up with some of my favourite mics - a Sennheiser MD425 a very good Sennheiser MD421 mk2 and the Shure SM58 and it was very similar to the 421 and to my ear superior to the other two mics in clarity and detail. It was also a marginally hotter signal than the other mics and rejected feedback better than all of them. It will be my live vocal Mic of choice going forward for lead vocals

I also have a few SM58s (rarely used) and a Beta 87a which I also like. I'm looking for something with a little more clarity and sizzle to cut through a mix but also not over EQd at the mic level. 

I like the Sennheiser e900* series so the e965 is a front runner ($399 list). Also towards the top is the DPA 2028. I so hear earthworks has some good live mics and Sennheiser has a few other (431,451) in this range as well as Shure. What are your thoughts?

Best Live Vocal mic under(or around) $500?

Not only do theses mics have a great solid construction but the have a crisp clear sound and best of all they have eliminated the directional feedback issues I would deal with from people moving mic stands and mics at open mics. These are awesome. Best Buy I’ve made this year.

Great and great looking stage mics. Beat the average Shure Beta crowd. Better value.
