I also picked up a Schiit Magni Heresy amp (using my Scarlett Solo as the DAC), and I'm incredibly pleased with my new listening experience. While the 770s still feel a bit cooler than I'm used to, a lot of the fullness/warmth I was missing is there.

While I am a musician quite familiar with amps, effects, and a certified tone junkie - I always just ran my headphones straight into my device of choice (iphone, computer, etc) and didn't consider a headphone amp. They are very lite and comfortable also! The Schiit Magni Heresy has plenty of power and drives really good volume even in low gain. In order to get use of the headphones away from my main seating area I also bought a dragonfly black. It’s a pretty good little device.

I really couldn't say how good the amp was as the amp came to me defective. The low/high gain switch was not working and it would only work at low gain. Today I got in the Schiit Modi 3 and Magni Heresy and said I would give an update to the class. I'll skip the foreplay and say right from the start, the new setup is substantially better. It isn't even a question of "well maybe...". It is a night and day difference, enough to make it sound like an entirely new headphone.

My setup before getting this amp was a Topping DX3 Pro DAC+AMP. It sounded nice and clear, but I could max the volume a lot of the time leaving me unsatisfied with the amp-side. Enter, the Heresy. This amp paired with the DX3 Pro (as a DAC only) produces good, clear sound and more than enough volume...

I ended up getting Schiit Modi and Magni Heresy. That made all the difference. It did mean also having to pick up an Apple Lightning to USB adapter, but I’m very happy with the results. I use them 8+ hours per day (for work) and feel completely immersed in the sound.

I have had this for a little over two years and it was great. However, the over current protection (I imagine) is not good. I had the circuit fry on me twice, ruin a pair of headphones by dumping current in them, then had to RMA the product twice. The RMA process and support was nice and relatively ...

to sum up: I regret selling my 6xx, and I'm thinking of getting the new hd560s with Modi 3 because I have the mangi heresy and they're brothers lol. Finally, my advice is please get a separate DAC you're motherboard audio is muddy and dirty, I know the es100 is not the best but I can assure you it's much better than your motherboard audio.
