However, even HDR 600 has many issues - most monitors rated for HDR 600 only come with a few local dimming zones, so if you have a bright windows against a dark backdrop you can get a severe halo effect as shown in this video by Hardware Unboxed on the Samsung Odyssey. HDR is still kind of a mess on computers right now to be honest.

Not many options - most WMR headsets are not very good, but the Samsung Odyssey+ was always pretty well received. I think that's pretty much the only one that was consistently recommended.

If you don't need the best picture quality, audio and comfort, you might want to search for another 1st gen WMR headset, especially Samsung Odyssey+, you can find one used for 150-250, which is a steal at that price, though they have the risk of worn-out cable. Lately there have been big Reverb G1 sales and pretty good G2 sales as well, so again if you want to save some, be vigilant. Overall the VR market is a bit shabby and you won't find a no-compromise offering, which is why I would prefer value-for-money offerings until something better comes out.

I bought my Samsung Odyssey+ in 2020 and still have absolutely no reason to switch to a different headset. I do, however, enjoy when my friends bring over an oculus quest 2 and we can enjoy a VR experience together
