They're always going to be more comfort-oriented boots, a little wider

 It's pretty darn agile in moguls. There's enough width here and width this tip and tail shape that you can actually handle some softer snow conditions too, which is really nice to have in a ski like this. So with some skis, when you see the integrated binding, when you see a more affordable price, you often see a narrower ski that's best on groomers, and there are benefits to skis like that, but if you're looking for a little bit more versatility and also a little bit more overall performance, I think this Stance 80 is great. You can buy it just like this, ski and binding, really actually quite a nice, solemn binding on this ski

 The ski will have greater grip right underfoot than what you've been used to, but it's still pretty loose in the tips and tails, so it's not like you're jumping up so much in performance that it's going to be punishing or hard to ski or just not that much fun. This is still a very, very fun ski that's still very easy to use. 80 underfoot is great on groomers, very quick edge to edge. I think it's wide enough to start taking these things off trail too

 So just cool that it kind of makes the cut into that ski test, but also extremely affordable. So Salomon uses a woodcore in this ski. It's a Poplar woodcore. Poplar is a great material for ski construction because it's light, but it's also strong

 Hey skiers, I'm Jeff from SkiEssentials.com.

 I'm here today to talk about the Salomon Stance 80, particularly its affordability and the

 potential of buying it as a complete package with boots.

 I think it's very impressive that Salomon can hit a price point this low while still

 using titanal laminates, carbon, and a lot of technology found in more expensive skis.

 We actually tested this ski in our annual ski test this season.

 So just cool that it kind of makes the cut into that ski test, but also extremely affordable.

 Poplar is a great material for ski construction because it's light, but it's also strong.

 And then we get some technology kind of derived from the wider stance models.

 So we get a single titanal laminate in this ski, and then we get these windows cut into

 the fore and aft section of the ski where they use carbon.

 So pretty cool to have metal in a ski's construction at this price point.

 Even cooler to also have some carbon in there as well.

 Metal really adds a lot of stability and vibration damping to a ski's performance, so maybe you're

 looking to just kind of take a step up in performance from your current skis.

 If you're moving off rentals, you're going to notice a huge difference while still being

 80 underfoot in this ski, and Salomon does a really nice job of building in some not

 necessary but certainly useful tip and tail rocker.

 So quite a bit of rocker up here in the tip, that really helps with turn initiation and

 also gives the ski a little bit of a looser feel.

 And then really helpful for that looser feel is this slight amount of tail rocker, but

 certainly enough back there that it helps kind of pivot around a turn without requiring

 too much skier input or making it feel fatiguing or demanding back there.

 Salomon also uses some nice early taper.

 That's basically this tip shape getting a little narrower up here instead of the widest

 point being all the way at the end of the ski, and that's just furthering or further

 increasing maneuverability and the ski's ease of use.

 If you're coming off rentals or maybe a narrower system ski like this that doesn't have metal,

 you're going to notice an uptick in overall stability and a smoother feel.
