If you and your pup are always seeking adventure, the versatile Ruffwear Roamer may be for you. The Roamer features a sturdy clasp, two handles, a bungee middle, and an adjustable buckled handle that can also be put comfortably around one's waist or be used to secure your dog as needed. Because of these features, we found ourselves reaching for this leash when headed to meet up with friends, go for a bike ride or a run, or take a stroll down the beach. The bungee was especially useful in situations where testers and their dogs moved quickly, like biking. This leash's extra stretch &#40;almost four feet&#41; was much appreciated when the dog abruptly pulled in a different direction, which prevented sudden jerking movements that could be downright dangerous on a bike. One of our pairs of testers has even used it for skijoring in the winter. Additionally, the Roamer is easy to stuff into a pack because it weighs less and is less bulky than other elastic leashes we've tested.
However, testers noted that this same elasticity meant that they had less control over their dog in situations where slack needed to be taken out of the leash quickly. Unless the walker can reach down and grab the handle right above the clasp attached to the dog, it is hard to make quick adjustments to your dog's direction or action. Because of this, we recommend the Ruffwear Roamer Leash for those looking for a practical leash for many outings and activities where tight, constant control over your pup's roaming is not necessary.

I like Ruffwear's gear, unfortunately, my dog is just a tiny bit too small (26lbs) for most of their stuff. This leash is no different. The clip is enormous! I doubt it would look right on most bigger dogs. It's not heavy, it's just big

The clip is comically large and the adjustable strap slips with very little effort.

Poor workmanship. The two sides of the loop are about an inch different in length so it won't lie flat. It's such an obvious error, the leash should have been rejected. No quality control in Vietnam, where it was manufactured?

  The 5’ leash is too short to use on your waist if your dog isn’t knee height or more. But the amount of elastic length is better.  The clips are hard to put on and off. Only get this if you use a harness and intend to leave it clipped on most of the time

 This is bad for pullers as it would encourage pulling, but a little give in the leash is nice especially for my older dog who sometimes wanders in the wrong direction a bit. It doesn't jerk him off his feet.  Length: The short was too short to use on the waist and still reach my 20lb Shiba, but the long one dragged the ground. We returned hers

Unless you are short and slim the shorter leash is NOT long enough to use on your waist unless your dog is large / XL and heeling close

I love everything about this leash except the snap

This leash is great, I just wish it was a little longer so my dog could run a few more steps ahead of me. The adjustment on the leash will be longer for those with a smaller waist. My waist is about 36” which is on the larger end for the leash. The adjuster is almost at the elastic part of the leash when I put it on correctly
