Thoughtless Design

I guess I thought that ordering a name brand like the Rubbermaid Antimicrobial Dish Drainer - meant that I would receive a dish drainer with at least the same level of quality and durability as past Rubbermaid Dish Drainers purchased. Unfortunately, this dish drainer appears to be made with a lesser quality metal under the rubber coating. The new dish drainer has a rectangular silverware holder in which the silverware slides down to below the top of the holder unless there is a lot of items in it. The spacing between the dish holders is such that there are spaces in which smaller items - dry measuring cups, smaller kids cups, tops to traveler mugs, etc

 If I still had it available I would have sent this one back. How disappointing to have a previously reliable company cut quality in newer products. I guess our grandparents were right - companies just don't make things like they used to. This is the case with this Rubbermaid Dish Drainer

 I ordered this because it is black as the last one that I had was stainless steel which rusted right away. This one is just okay. Will have to see if it holds up to daily use.

 The plastic coating is not as thick and it feels flimsy. It serves my purpose though and was better than anything else I found on Amazon. I doubt it will last 20 years this time.

Not like the old one

My last dish rack (same model) had thicker supports. This one has slightly different proportions, meaning it doesn't fit inside my sick on top of my metal grids like the last one did. I'm not confident it will last 10 years like my last one (which had the plastic peel off the metal, causing rusting).

 My silverware holder on my previous drainer held up for about 10 years. I don't think this one will be around after about a year of use.

Okay. Not Great.

  Over all, however, I like this one very much. I like having the choice of a smaller dish drainer just because I'd rather not be tempted to leave dishes in there longer, before putting them away, so I wash dishes twice a day and put them away in between. I have a dishwasher, but there are things that are in and out of use DAILY, so I hand wash those and enjoy having a small dish drainer for that purpose.
