Rotring Rapid Pro

this is a known issue for graphgear 1000 and rapid pro. it happens in time, even if you don't drop your pencil. it is not a fragile, it is flawed and unacceptable for its price. there are really not much decent pencils with retractable tip.

knurled grip is nice and its weight is perfect. However, lead advancing parts are made of plastics and leads keep breaking; sometimes doesn't advance at all. Pencil lead advancing and cushioning features are too delicate.

But what I don't like about the Rotrings is that the grips are too small for me (Except Rapid Pro, Rapid and Tikky). I like series like Graphgear more in this regard.

If we eschew thinking about the price, this would easily be a 5-star pencil. But at typically $30+, a just review ought to be appropriately fastidious, if not downright nitpicky, so lets get into it. Three weeks ago I decided to buy a rapid PRO in order to have a portable rOtring (as my beloved rOtring 600 always stays at my desk). At first impression, I thought I had finally reached a point where I no longer need to search for a perfect portable mechanical pencil. However, I was wrong!. My rapid Pro has major issues in terms of its mechanism.

This is a very nice pencil -- a bit on the heavy side, but thinner, I think, than most all-metal pencils and pens. I think its best feature (aside from the all-metal construction) is the retractable tip, which allows it to be clipped inside the pocket without worrying about the delicate lead holder ...

So instead, I bought a rOtring Rapid PRO 0.5 mm in matte black after seeing it on this sub a bunch. This pencil is incredible! Writes great, feels great, looks great, and it’s the perfect weight.

Beware if the teeny tiny eraser under the cap. Don't use it so you'll be able to change leads. I used mine amd wore it down too far to be able to pop off and insert new lead into the pencil.
