Roc-N-Soc Nitro Rider Throne

They are absolutely awful once you finally get a nice drum throne. This goes for all expensive drum thrones.

I am absolutely against hydraulic drum thrones because they make you bounce while you play unless you try to stay vertically motionless. This bouncing can be hard on the spine and neck, but it also means your entire body is moving up and down while you're playing. You can also look at it this way: pretend your body isn't what's moving up and down, but instead your entire setup is. I tried a hydraulic drum stool once (the Roc N Soc Nitro), and I'm never doing it ever again.

I really like this throne while playing my drum set. I have a pretty big rear and this thing cushions me well while providing a solid base to sit on. It feels so much sturdier than my old throne. It's big enough that I actually feel stable on it. It's quiet. It's comfortable as hell (I've even pulled it out to use at my desk a couple days for work).

Definitely try out a few thrones in person if you can. The high end Roc n Soc thrones are great if you want the bike seat style, and adjusting them is super easy.

If you like the round top ones, Pork Pies are super comfy.

Well built. Heavy duty. I use this with the optional back rest, and it's pretty comfortable. I love my Roc N Soc that I've owned for twenty years, but there are a lot of nice thrones out there. Aim for something large with lots of padding :)

The throne comes in 2 pieces, the base and the seat. It's obvious how to place the seat on the base.
