While other, more expensive bikes would solve the lack of power and some of the other issues I mentioned, I don’t think the value of this bike can be beaten. For less than half the price of the Ride1Up 500, under $700 with taxes and shipping, you get a very serviceable bike which still offers a lot of nice features and an attractive design.

check out rad power bikes, himiway, ride1up, aventon. check out the different models and cross reference with this reddit and find what suits you. Those are like the most popular choices from what I've researched.

I have a Ride1Up 500 step-thru and ride it year round here in Canada, too (London). Love it... ***but*** it comes to around $2000 CAD after taxes and shipping.

Well, I got myself a Ride1Up 500 series about two weeks ago. Put about 20 miles on it and pretty much figured out that I prefer a regular mountain bike. A bike I could have gotten for easily 1/5th the cost, if not 1/10th. I looked into returning it.

For under $1k it would say get a Letric XP.

.if your budget is a bit more (say up to $1300/1400), i would say look at the ride1up 500, Rad Mission 1, Or the KBO Breeze.

I'm a 5'2" gal, budding bike mechanic with a home workshop and my own custom built eBike (based around a Surly Disc Trucker) AND I've ridden a Ride1Up 500 (not the 700, though) for about 100 miles (I assembled it for someone else who loaned it to me for a bit). I felt like the R1U 500 was just barely too tall for me ideally, but it was still pretty darn fun to ride. The components were all pretty decent and it was very effective for getting around town and picking up groceries and such. I remember the feeling of the motor was really surprising at first, it's very noticeable.
