Red Wing Iron Ranger 8111
When I first put on these boots, I was a little worried because there was a lot more volume than I anticipated. The instep is definitely higher than what I am used to seeing in brands like Red Wing, RM Williams, Blundstone, and many UK manufacturers; so my foot was really swimming around in there when I tried them on. However, the length was perfect for me and I knew that I would regret going a half-size down because my toes would rub on the tapered toebox. I ultimately decided to put a thin leather Saphir insole into the boots to make up the volume and they fit perfectly.

Beautiful full grain Amber Harness leather, excellent craftsmanship, but...they were returned
Beautiful flawless full grain leather, excellent craftsmanship but oh my, so stiff. With 11 days left on the return window I am still undecided on whether or not I am keeping them. The boots are beautiful and free of any flaws. The fantastic aroma of the top quality leather is intoxicating and has n...

[Initial Impressions] Red Wing Iron Ranger in Black Harness leather
Overall i’m very happy with this purchase, and I see myself wearing these as my new daily pair. I’m excited to wear these into the ground and then resole them with a vibram lug TC-4 plus, the same thats used on the Red Wing Sawmill but I also really like the look of the stacked heel on some folks Iron Rangers. Some other modifications I’ll consider in the future is black/gunmetal hardware instead of the silver, and dying the welt black to give it a clean blacked out look. I’d definitely recommend this model for anyone looking for a black pair of boots.

I really want to like them, but...
I bought these a week ago and I was shocked that the break-in was really only a day! I walked 2 miles in thin socks and got two sore spots on each foot. The following days I wore wool socks and they have been fine with very little soreness. Now less than a week I can wear them all day if I choose to...

Factory 2nds? L/R boots not symmetrical
I've been researching the Iron Ranger for months and finally pulled the trigger. I am disappointed in the quality control. The upper of the left boot is stitched 1/8'' off center comparable to the right boot. To be clear, these are not supposed to be factory seconds, but that's what they seem to be....

Solid boot, generally well constructed, not quite as nice the Beckman model
I really like many of boots Red Wing has been making for their Heritage collection. I own the Beckman's in the lace up and chukka versions, as well as a pair of the 6" moc that I LOVE and am almost worn through a second wedge sole in 6 years (if that gives you any idea of how much I love them). I no...

Break-in coming along . . .
My true shoe size is 13.5D - extremely hard to find, although I own a couple of pairs of western boots in that size from a small Canadian manufacturer.
I tried Iron Rangers in 13D; they fit like 14Ds with lots of length, but clearly too wide for me. I ended up buying 12Ds, which fit like 13Ds wi...
