 so I would just take westbound 80. Yeah, a short hop on the I 30 and then I'm in the Dallas And anyway, this one is just Dallas for there are other parts of Texas for blow-ups in this, but that in a nutshell, people is how to read a road map, a road atlas, and how to plan your trip. One final thing I'll show on the very back of the book is how much the distance and times this is at the very back of the book. Miles and minutes and it's the entire United States And what this is is that you have the black numbers which is the distance in miles and then the blue numbers which is how much time it takes

 That's the one that truckers and RVers use. There is the large-scale road atlas which is like a big 10 by 15 book.  So I'm not backtracking by going up 49. So at this point I get off 10 on the westbound and I get 49 northbound through Alexandria and then I'm going to pick up 20 and then West into there it is Texas Whoo! And what page do I need to go to 96? Let's go there in the gray state of Texas Okay, where there it is. Okay, so 23 port and into Texas and okay, do we see Dallas There's Dallas right there and so we follow 20 westbound all the way to Dallas. There's also a blow-up of Dallas near the back of the book here we are in page 136 Dallas forward

How to read a road atlas (for regular people)

I would prefer one state per page with smaller print.  Otherwise, great detail and well put together!

 You might be on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere because you have car trouble and your battery might die, your phone might die, and it sounds crazy, but it happens. It happens every day to all kinds of people and you need a map, okay? So there's not much to this. It's a pretty simple review. I like the maps

 Why a physical map? Let me tell you why you need this. For one, you even see the Walmart price on there, $11.97. This is 2019 edition

RAND McNALLY Road Atlases - GEAR REVIEW

Nice size!

I like the quality of this atlas, the pages are very clearly printed and colorful and I think the spiral binding will be a bonus for us. We are planning a big road trip across the US and although we have cell phones with maps and GPS and we also own an old Magellan GPS, I never travel long distance without an atlas. There really are places you can’t get enough signal for your electronic devices! Also, planning is easier with a giant page rather than a little screen, and sometimes technology tries to get you to turn down a deer trail, skitter path, or otherwise non-road. And who knows, maybe I’d rather avoid Boston to NYC during rush hours… even if it adds an hour to my drive

It does look like it’ll get us from point A to B!

THIS IS MY 3RD LARGE SCALE RAND McNALLY USA ROAD MAP. THEY ALL HAVE ONE FAULT.

 It’s a beautiful, detailed map book and the spiral is nice. However, they forgot why road trippers love these over GPS which only shows one exact route and no possible adventures.
