With 10 well-placed, sharp, bottom-loading pins per side and a sizeable 111 x 107mm concave platform, these pedals provide excellent support and grip to keep your feet glued to the pedals, yet they still allow for a little mobility when you need to correct your foot position. The pedal profile isn't the thinnest with 14.8mm leading and trailing edges and 12.8mm at the spindle, but with chamfered leading edges we found pedal strikes to be minimal, and the concave design to feel great underfoot. The pedal spins in a very smooth and controlled manner, and they are among the most easily serviceable pedals we've tested when it comes time for a rebuild. The Race Face Atlas is designed as a gravity pedal, but these pedals also make a great trail pedal. The Atlas performs well in metrics for grip, platform, mobility, and servicing. Race Face redesigned the Atlas and increased the platform size, made the pedal body thinner, and made the pedal pins longer and adjustable. The redesigned pins grip really well yet allow for mobility on the pedal, the Atlas is one of the few pedals that successfully strikes this delicate balance. On the bike, the concave platform is supportive and stable. The chamfered edges do really well in rocky terrain and get hung up less than other pedals. On the crank, the pedal has a smooth, predictable rotation and the bearing no longer interferes with crank booties. Accessing the axle and bearing is super simple and just involves removing the cap with a socket or Knipex pliers. 
All of this goodness comes at a cost, and the Atlas pedals have a high price tag. However, we feel the cost is worth it if you plan on using your pedals for years. The Atlas performs really well, has great grip, and is super easy to service, regreasing the axle only takes a few minutes, aspects which we feel merit the higher price tag.

I've had these pedals for a little over a year.  The good: - Thin and grippy. I actually prefer them with the pin washers installed to make them slightly less aggressive. - The platform shape is nice

Overpriced for the quality...

 Raceface replaced that pedal and the next one lasted 1 1/2yrs before a nearly identical event happened. I do ride hard in rocky terrain with lots of pedal strikes but have never had this happen in 30 years of riding nor have I ever seen anyone else's pedal do this.  I will say that they have a great warranty on these and replaced them both times plus paid for shipping. I will keep riding them until the warranty is up but am nervous now on long rides and always have spare pedals in the car

Beware that these won't work with many crankarms

 When I mount these pedals with the boots the platform makes contact with the boots. You will need to get a few extra washers per pedal to get the clearance required to move the pedal platform's Q factor away from the crank and not make contact with the boot.  The pedals are OK but I've noticed that they lack the grip found in my hardtail's Deity Bladerunner. I find those to be much better platforms that offer more grip
