Strobe shows the speed is accurate, steady and dead on. And let me show you how nice the trimmer here works. Nice and smooth and consistent

It does have a couple of nicks here and there. Typical scratches on the dust cover. It does play well though

New Budget Setup! Almost Everything from Facebook Marketplace, under $350.

After a day of listening, absolutely LOVE the Pioneer, even though it has a cheap Pickering DLE stylus in it. Thinking of upgrading to an Ortophone 2M Blue on the Pro-Ject and moving the Red to this, but want to sit with the setup it came with for a while so I don't spoil my ears!. Lastly, I added in a Chromecast Audio off of eBay so I could steam to the receiver. It's worked like a charm so far, just wish Google hadn't discontinued them since it made finding it a pain.

My new Purple Monster MP200

This, along with the PL-570 (wooden base), is considered one the most beautiful turntables from Pioneer and other manufacturers. Kudos to your dad - this is heirloom quality stuff here.

Technics turntable and Dual Amplifier, both made in the late 70s, still going strong.

I still use my dad's Pioneer PL-530 turntable from the 70's almost every day. I wish I knew what happened to his Pioneer SX-1050 receiver! I've got the turntable paired with a Pioneer SX-750 and Polk Monitor 7's. Sounds great!

So after almost a month I think this is the setup I’m going with. Is it good? Also does the turntable come with a pre amp or not this one?

For 100$ I always preferred the pioneer pl-990 simply because it has a strobe light and speed adjustment from the front. Not many people seem to consider that turntable, but it is an excellent value.

What's the best price point to buy a first turntable at?

Now it runs great. I think if you want to own a turntable that it helps to know more about how it works so for me this was cost effective and I have a feeling the turntables in your budget probably wouldn’t perform much better. Mine came with a decent audio technica cart/stylus but now I can use the money I saved to upgrade the cart later if I want since that probably makes the most impact on sound character/quality.
