If climbing indoors is a part of your daily routine and you want to pack everything you need for a day at the office and gym into one bag, then the Petzl KAB is an excellent option. It has a stylish messenger bag-design that doesn't look like a rope bag until you open it up. The integrated, trapezoidal tarp is removable and won't take up too much space if your gym rope is 60 meters or less. The KAB's most unique feature is a padded laptop sleeve, which means it can serve double duty as a messenger bag if you remove the rope tarp. This feature greatly expands the bag's functionality if you want to stop off at the climbing gym during your commute to school or work. It also has extra compartments that can be used for books or additional climbing gear.
The main disadvantage of the KAB is that it does not function well as a bag for outdoor climbing.  The huge tarp and wide mouth made this thing a breeze to flake and load, but cut to the first day of climbing with a moderate 4 mile approach with some light bouldering and I am now ready to send this thing back.  The biggest issue I had with the bag was the fact that it is a messenger bag. The single shoulder strap is not a great design for long or complicated approaches, as someone else said. The weight of my gear was an annoyance on the way in and downright intolerable after a full day of climbing and a hike out

Good bag, with some drawbacks

 If you have more than one pair of shoes, forget it. The bag lies on its side in use, so even if you put stuff back in it while using the rope mat, you'll be at risk of your stuff falling out.  There is a tiny external pocket for car keys, wallet and so on, but it's in the lid so when the bag is full the pocket is bent and pushed against the contents, which may damage things like phones, and when opened the lid flops on the floor, again creating a risk of damage.  The few positives - it looks nice, it's comfortable to wear and it's solidly built - can't make up for the serious design mistakes here

Disappointing and very poorly designed.

 -Tough material and build. I've chucked this thing around and the canvas takes it like a champ. -Waist strap stabilizes the should strap for climbing with gear or tough approaches. -Stands on its own or comes with a built in canvas tarp to keep your rope clean

Fantastic bag, Arrived in perfect condition, with a handwritten note from the seller, congratulating me on the purchase!  I took this bag up curved ridge on the Buachaille. Unfortunately didn't need the rope, but the bag was great! Also took it to EICA where it performed wonderfully. The face fabric is thick and tough, capable of handling scrapes against rocks and the bottom has a rubberised(?) section for peace of mind when setting the bag on rough or damp ground.  The straps are good quality, although the shoulder rest could use thicker padding for heavier ropes

The interior of the bag is clean and well featured, with a single gear loop that I use for sport draws, and a small, zippered pocket perfect for keys and a wallet (although it is very small, and won't fit much more).  The way the rope pays back into the bag is pretty fantastic, and the tarp is a big size without being ridiculous

Great gymbag!

 Very neat and a load of room for whatever else you need from belt type loops for quickdraw and zip pockets for those little things that you don't want hiding in the your bag somewhere! Overall delighted with this purchase and it feels and looks very hard wearing so it should last a long time. Ideal for sports climbing cragging and maybe the only drawback would be a very long walk in (untested) as a traditional rucksack may prove easier in that situation. Struggling to find a bad point though.
