Pentel P205

I weighed the parts of some Pentel P205 pencils, from Gen 3 to modern. The weight of most parts has decreased over the years. The weight of the caps on the older models is going to be a little heavier because they contain a metal cap stop inserted (this was removed in the modern pencils in favor of a step cut into the mechanism).

Lost an old blue 0.7 that was my favorite so I found this one, really comfortable to write and draw with and came way earlier then expected around 19 days I think and there was no packaging with it, it was just by itself in the bubble package which I dont really like (if there was a whole it could'v...

After lots of reading, a visit to his For Sale listings found my pencil in his inventory (plus a couple more, including the brown limited edition that jumped into my cart on its own). ... I am much older now and have had many fine pencils, but I never lost my admiration for the P205. I feel like Pentel designed a near-perfect combination of weight, balance, and utility with this model.

This is a sort of expensive pencil, especially because i'm both absent-minded and have daughters who swipe everything nice! Despite that, this pencil has such a nice weight to it - those plastic toss-able mechanical pencils cannot hold a candle to the pleasure of using a nice, weighty mechanical pen...

P205 weighs 9.1 grams, the TL5 weighs 8.0 grams. The P205 is 143 mm to the TL5's 140 mm. The body diameter of the P205 is (about) 8.9 mm, the TL5 is 8.4 mm. The grip diameter tapers on the P205 (from about 8.6 mm to 7.4 mm) the grip diameter on the TL5 is 8.4 mm.

I bought this pencil along with the pentel gear 500 and I am very impressed with this pencil. It write very well and draws well too. The length of the nib is just about right and though a fixed nib, it works really good for both writing and drawing. It is a really nice utility pencil and inexpensive...

Been a bit quiet lately, but finally getting back to making pencils! Finished a matching pencil & leadholder set in stainless. Pencil uses a Pentel P205 mechanism and the leadholder a Koh-I-Noor Versatil 5201.

The pencil writes well, and it feels pretty good in your hand. It does feel a little less sturdy than I expected, and the metal tip loosens occasionally and has to be tightened again. Overall, I was happy with the pencil, but definitely not blown away.
