Same story as everyone else here--I gave up pasta, heard about zucchini pasta, then realized it was too time-consuming to make with a mandoline. I think I bought this on the second week I was on Paleo. I use it at least once a week and it makes perfect zucchini pasta. I can spiral cut a pretty sizable zucchini in about a minute, which is fabulous! While I do love it, it IS annoying to clean

 I ended up chopping it with a knife. Forget using it with a crookneck squash, and I have yet to find a carrot that will work with this spiraler. I buy organic produce, so I usually have small carrots. I think you need to get a giant GMO carrot to work here

 I started out cleaning it with a potato brush, but I quickly learned that this doesn't do a thorough job. Now, I fill a sink with soap and hot water and soak the entire thing for 20 minutes, then scrub it by hand with the brush. Second, the suction cups didn't bother me at first, but they don't work at all on my model. This means I can't put much pressure on the veggie I'm spiraling

 If you did indeed try to apply the pressure with only the twirling handle, I can see the handle possibly breaking as the handle is not the strongest construction.  I was surprised at how much pressure, or force (MUSCLE!), you have to use to get good results, but it's not that bad, and I think even petite women or children could handle the job with a little practice. It was important to me to get nice long (as in 2-3 feet long) "noodles". and after you semi-master applying the right amount of even pressure, and get good at securing the veggies in the unit, this spiralizer is very good at making nice L O N G "noodles"

 I can cut my apples and carrots in less than a couple of seconds using my food processor. This gadget is great for spiralizing squash and it makes an interesting way to eat foods and makes them look better than just a vegetable. I spiralize the zucchini and then put it in a pan with some spices and oil to just heat it up and then remove it and let it finish cooking while it cools. Like it a lot but it could use some improvements

 I use a toothbrush to clean the blades, because they are SHARP and will cut you. I recommend spraying it off immediately after use each and every time. I also dry mine immediately with either paper towels or a Skoy cloth to absorb all the water.  I only paid $30 for this item and got free shipping
