I'm thinking of buying my bf a quality travel backpack, clamshell opening, about 30L... the thing is that he sweats a LOT.

Are there any bags out there that might have these features with good back ventilation? I'm thinking something with suspended back mesh that keeps the actual bag away from your back. I've been looking, but the only bags I've found with this are hiking bags (??). Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge/input!

Volume too small and laptop sleeve not removable

 Let's run through it from the bottom to the top. but we're gonna talk about the specs first. So this pack right here measures twenty point four, nine inches high. It's thirteen point seven, nine inches wide and it can expand out to eleven point eight two inches

 You know one thing that I really enjoy about this bag. There's no straps on the side of this bag and that's one thing that I just kind of looked at and saw that as missing on this bag was not missing. it's just not included in the design is there's no straps so there's no you know unbuckling to get into your main sectional your admin section. So I just like I like that feature that you know they've just removed and kind of design the bag so it's already kind of compressed down so that that's very enjoyable and something I just kind of you know, overlooked

 Very impressed with their pack starting on the bottom Man, they start off with some great stuff already on the bottom. When you open this pack up, it's got a little zipper down here at the bottom. Then you get to a rain fly that Osprey includes. So this is what I'm talking about

 so I gotta have that store. my tech Central's in there and then you could have on the back panel of this bag a computer or laptop compartment with the velcro right? No, no fleece but it's padded up really well and it is suspended off the bottom. So I was a easily able to fit in my 15-inch Dell XPS gasps. but you have the laptop compartment and then also a documents sleeve and this little organizer right here in the back

Osprey Radial: Epic Bike Commuter & Everyday Carry Backpack

Osprey Radial is a sturdy pack. I have used it almost every single day to commute around the city and run errands for over 2 years with no visible wear and tear.

Hi all

I'm looking for a 30-35l backpack to use for daily commute by motorcycle and light travel.

 Since I'll be using it while commuting I'm looking for a durable and water-resistant bag. I don't want something that needs a cover to be water-resistant enough during light to medium rainfall. Preferably a bag that has a sternum strap, if there is a waist strap I'd prefer it to be detachable. I'm trying to get a pack that can hold gym clothes + shoes, towel, 15 inch laptop, mouse and keyboard, chargers, water bottle, headphones.

So far my favourite option is the Patagonia Black Hole 32, it seems to be a great size for what I intend to use the bag for, looks durable, solid company and the black hole line looks to be pretty popular with satisfied users. My only 'worries' are the accessibility of the laptop compartment for daily use and how water-resistant the zippers are.

Any other recommendations that would fit my needs are very welcomed or if you happen to have the black hole 32 or any of the other products from the black hole line I'd love to hear your experiences.

Recommendations for 30-35l backpack for motorcycle commute and light travel

I purchased this pack to replace the Radial 34 model before this one. This is the 3rd version of the Radial I own (2 of the 34’s and a 35). I primarily use this for travel, going to the office, and short overnight trips. I like the features of the cycling version, as I can also use this to hit a grocery store on my bike

 * Adjustable strap for the shoulder for better resting on your back (a reason why I purchased) * Adjustable height button for shoulder strap. (Nice feature that is kind of hidden until you look at it) * Side shove it zip pocket is very handy * Mesh support to keep the bag off your back is nice. It provides airflow. * Sternum strap is nice

 (really nice to know it is there in a heavy storm) * Zipper extenders are a nice touch. They seem durable. * Adjustable strap for the shoulder for better resting on your back (a reason why I purchased) * Adjustable height button for shoulder strap. (Nice feature that is kind of hidden until you look at it) * Side shove it zip pocket is very handy * Mesh support to keep the bag off your back is nice

 It provides airflow. * Sternum strap is nice. (A must for me. All 3 of the bags I own have this) * Waste strap to further secure it

Features are not executed well with this version

 It'S really nice very comfortable for that motion. So for those bike commuters or those very active commuters, there's also some adjustment for that. So you can get the appropriate size fit. The shoulder

 So there's a large pocket on the back very close to the back panel. That is great for electronics, so you've got a really wide, really good spot to slide a laptop or other electronic. Here it is padded, it is reinforced, so you get protection for those items in front of that there is a scratch free, sunglass pocket. So that's a great place to store your shades or other electronics that you don't want to get damaged

 This pack actually has an elastic band that runs through that allows for maximum flexibility and movement in the pack. So if you pull on that or if you're moving with the pack on its going to flex it's going to work with you to mimic your movement, it's really convenient. It'S really nice very comfortable for that motion. So for those bike commuters or those very active commuters, there's also some adjustment for that

 So if you don't need it, you can store it in the pack or leave it at home, but it is there in case you need that extra security moving around to the front of the pack we'll take a look at some of the access points and pockets. So this pack is built for commuters, so it does have some commuter specific pockets, one being a laptop pocket. So there's a large pocket on the back very close to the back panel. That is great for electronics, so you've got a really wide, really good spot to slide a laptop or other electronic

Osprey Radial 26 Commuter Pack

 I also can't look up when wearing the pack because it sits so high on me. My brother got an REI Co-Op backpack similar to this one, but with more intense hip support, and that one is amazingly comfortable. I'm going to keep playing with the pack and see if I can't get a little more comfort out of it.  I haven't taken it out on the trail yet, and all my real camping gear is in the garage, but I took a picture of what it looks like packed without expanding it (not full, because I could still fit a few more things in if I wanted to, but packed so it closed easily)

 The problem I have is that, even though it's 100% adjustable (shoulder straps, vented back piece, hip clips, chest clips), I think it's still a little too wide for my petite frame. I'm 5'2", 115 lbs, and my chest is 32".  Despite being so easily customizable, my upper back can't quite find a comfortable spot on this backpack. Everything is fantastic but for my shoulder blades digging in

  I'll update this review when I actually get outside with it! I'm nervous about the back comfort, but excited to try it out.

 There are lower compression straps as well, and on the other side there is a small zippered pocket. You can open that pocket and there is actually a key tether. It'S another scratch-free pocket, but there's a key tether there. So you can access your keys without having to take the pack off and you can just let it go and it will retract right back into the pack really convenient for commuters

 There'S this little tab that says rain cover, there's a dedicated pocket for that, and you can access that rain cover quickly and easily so great coverage and protection for all of your gear. Overall. This is a really nice lightweight pack ideal for the active commuter, a very flexible mobile suspension system and a variety of organizational features make it great for those bike commuters in urban environments.  Allow you to access some additional gear, whether that's layers, snacks, anything along those lines. Some really cool things on the sides of this pack are a easy access pocket, as well as a water bottle pocket. So on one side, you've got a stretch. Water bottle pocket great place for some extra hydration

 It'S another scratch-free pocket, but there's a key tether there. So you can access your keys without having to take the pack off and you can just let it go and it will retract right back into the pack really convenient for commuters. The pack does have enhanced visibility with reflective hits throughout. So, on the front on the bottom, all of the lettering is reflective, so you get visibility in those low-light situations and if you have a blinker light or if you want to purchase one separately, you can attach that right at the base of the pack

Osprey Radial 34 Commuter Pack

 -It stands upright on it’s own. -Expansion is a nice option. -Zippers are solid. -Minimal hip flaps are better than anything larger

The shape is nice; it’s more square than other Osprey packs. This lends itself to packing better for me because I like to use pouches and cubes, and I like the look. I personally would prefer it to be a little smaller though. I use it as an EDC/personal carry on item when flying and it’s larger than I need for an EDC and doesn’t quite fit the personal item dimensions

 -Zippers are solid. -Minimal hip flaps are better than anything larger. -The organization pocket is laid out nicely. -Laptop with separate file/tablet space is good to have

  Cons -I’d prefer a little smaller (18 or 20l expanding to around 25l). -Lockable zippers, at least on the main compartment, would be nice. -A separate zipper to access the laptop compartment would work much better. As it is the material blocks access, especially when packed

3.5 Stars - The revised Osprey Radial (expandable from 26-34l) is nice, and not just for cycling
