 If you're an ultralight packer, the bag weighs in at 3.1 pounds so a very manageable weight and it has an external frame on it so it is very rigid on your back. The colors for the bag are either black or green and as you can see, I opted here for the black model and before we go any further guys, I'd like to point out that this is not a sponsored video. I paid for this bag with my own money after trying out a few different bags of my local outfitter

 So this bag is a little bit overkill if you're just going on a short multi-mile hike throughout the day. But if you are going out for the whole day and you want your whole day's food, you want supplies. You want that first aid. and maybe you need a few extra layers

  The waist belt is narrow, with minimal padding. I weigh 197 pounds. It might be fine for a smaller hiker, but the small belt gets tangled with my pants belt. I prefer a wider belt, maybe 1 and 1/2 inches thick

 I have an REI 40 liter pack that has a wider belt, and it's a nice feature.  On the plus side:  I don't use hiking poles, so I used one of the straps provided for them to hold a neck scarf to wipe my sweat, which worked fine. I very much like the small outside zipper pocket for frequently used items. The pack has several adjustment straps which allow you to tighten it down close to your back, which stabilizes the load and prevents it from jiggling around, especially on ascents

Bought the Manta 24 as a small day pack for a 10-day Tour de Mont Blanc in Europe, where we carried minimal food and no overnight, cooking or camp gear. It has room for my first aid kit, a rain jacket, fleece, emergency bivvy, lunch, 2.5 liters of water and other odds and ends, but not a lot more, about right for a day pack. This is my second Osprey and I like the quality of their packs in general, but if I were the designers, I'd make several tweaks

 Osprey needs more of this style pack. The worst feature is the overall weight and size. This pack needs to be about an 16 to 18 liter with the same susupension and hip belt. If it could be slimmed down 1 pound, it would be the best full or half day hikng pack ever constructed

It has plenty of ways to attach gear, and is narrow in width for tight spots, but when hiking at higher altitudes weight counts. I cut my body weight and gear list to cut weight and they could cut some weight from this pack as well

I have hiked 60 miles with this pack the last 5 days (14 miles being the longest). The best feature on this pack is the suspened back panel keeping it away from your back and providing great venelation. Osprey needs more of this style pack. The worst feature is the overall weight and size

 Um, the couple other features on this pack I want to show you is on the sides here or on the back here. There's this kind of springy material right here. I don't know how well you can see that, but there's a springy material What that does is it keeps your the pack off of your back and allow some airflow to get through there, which helps with cooling everything down and keeping you nice and cool. There's also some

 Lighter on my back. Each of these side pockets. Um, there's two side hip pockets, one on either side and they unzip. There's a good spot to keep, you know, like if you just bring you know a normal hiker might just bring like a trail camera or you know, snacks or kleenex or something like that that you want to get like quick access to

 I really like it and it's the first one that I wanted to do a review on. So a couple of things uh, features on it. First of all, on the back here you've got this nice little strap and storage area there so that's great for a rain jacket right there. Then you have three separate compartments um that you that are zippered

 It goes all the way almost up to my mid forearm there. Um, and that's where I keep like my snacks and my food and things like that for the trail. It also has a nice little clip so I can put my keys in there so I don't have to worry about those when I'm hiking and I put my wallet in there and things like that. The next pocket here you have up here on the top and this is a sunglass uh, pocket that won't scratch your sunglasses

 I put my snacks and everything. I mean like I can't even begin to fill that up, especially for a short hike. Another thing that it has is where the bladder bag is. You can put stuff in there as well with the water

 And I've really it seemed like we've been hiking in Helen, Georgia and it was really hot. I sweated but not terrible and now the wind's gonna pick up so I hope the audio is good. This has the packs on the sides that you can put stuff in and like I said, I originally wanted those to put my phone in, but now I just put things that I get want to get too quick like my lip gloss and kleenexes and tissues and stuff. It has two big side pockets on each side that holds a water bottle

 We will hiked all the way around the lake if you haven't seen my video. I hiked 15 miles but me and her did the 19.2 miles and we did it in seven hours and 33 minutes. I think that's awesome for people that really don't hike very much

 I think this would be a great like day hike pack maybe a couple of days which my goal this year is to sleep somewhere one night backpacking. Thing I don't like about this backpack is I got it because it has the side bags. my phone doesn't fit in it and I thought it would the iphone pro max and it won't fit in there so I always have to try to have a different alternative to put my phone somewhere. 2 CENT Tuesdays - Review Osprey Manta Backpack - Oak Mountain State Park

I bought this a couple months ago and used it last weekend for a Rim to Rim hike on the Grand Canyon. I loved everything about it except there is one major flaw. The frame has adjustable slots where the bag connects, which is great in theory, but the design creates a bump on each side that rubbed my back the whole trip. I really wanted to love this pack as it had all the features I wanted, but if it causes pain then that’s a deal breaker for me

The pack is perfect but after paying $170 it never came with a bladder I need the pack for this weekend to hike a mountain and I'm beyond upset now I have to spend even more money to get a bladder in time only options are to return the whole pack I just want a refund for it not having the bladder the pack is good such a crappy inconvenience the product page says a bladder is included same with photos showing it yet nothing was sent

Beautiful backpack. Very lightweight. Only problem is the front compartment. The zipper is on the side and when you open it up to grab something, everything else falls out
