There is a firestarter rod inserted into the handle, yes, a key feature. However such rods perform very poorly a...

Before you get angy, I have and love both
Unpopular opinion, I have an Opinel No. 8 and just do not care for it. It looks nice, but I just do not like the feel while using it. I have really tried, because I enjoy traditional style knives.

Big!
I really like No.12 carbon knife and it's sharp out the box. I cut up a pork butt with it to see how it did. The only thing is the handle is real slippery when wet and covered with fat.

There's more to knives than raw specs
Space age design and materials are super sweet and all, but the knife in my pocket today and most days is still an Opinel no. 7.
