This is super zooms full Pros: 3 cons, and one thing you probably need to make a note of for the Nikon Coolpix p900. Fortunately for this list, I can say that the pros far outweigh the cons. In fact, the cons are probably more nitpicky

Nikon Coolpix P950: Pros Cons and One thing to Note

 We all want good pictures on our screens, but also in print, and the P950 delivered again just the same as the P1000 did. They're crisp, sharp, and vibrant as long as I was at a lower Iso setting. One funny thing here is that I shared photos of Ospreys in a nest in my P1000 review. This is the same nest and this Osprey was just building it up again for the spring after having been gone all winter

 The more normal point-and-shoot camera similar sensor to this one, but with a much shorter zoom range and usually a smaller form factor is just about obsoleted by the camera on your phone. But your phone can't do what the P950 can when it comes to zoom range. So instead of saying that the P950 is a direct competitor to a larger sensor interchangeable lens system, in my mind, the P950 is going to get you the shots that your phone won't. To me, that's the story here

 so I will link that video below for a very in-depth look. Do watch that video because seriously, the sensor, the very good stabilization, the photo and video modes all the same. But there is one large difference between the P950 and the P1000. The P1000 zooms to a 3 000 millimeter equivalent field of view with a 125x zoom, while the P950 zooms to a 2000 equivalent field of view with an 83 x zoom, which incidentally is the same as the P950s predecessor, the P900

I am looking for a camera that will allow me to zoom in and get some close up pics of the birds and small critters in my yard.  I would also like to use it for landscapes, sunsets and as an all round travel camera.

I currently have a Nikon D3200 with the kit lens and a 50ml prime, and an old Panasonic Zoom which is too slow now.  One option is to get  a zoom lens for the D3200, but I think I want the point and shoot in order to just pick up the camera when opportunity arises.  I have lost opportunities while switching lenses on the Nikon, and because the Panasonic is too slow.

The choices are overwhelming.   Do you have one that you care to recommend?

I come across a lot of moments when I'm running where I would like to take high-quality photos of wildlife or scenic views etc. 

Is it possible? Does anyone have experience with carrying cameras on runs?

Choosing first camera!

Best bang for the buck scuba camera?

Other people on this post are recommending you get a full frame, interchangeable lens camera. I recommend against that because if it's your first camera, you'll want something like the the Nikon Coolpix, Sony Cybershot, or Canon Powershot that will give you a good introduction into photography because they all have multiple features built directly into the camera. A decent point and shoot such as the ones I listed above are a good way to learn what kind of photography you enjoy doing.
