MoFi Ultradeck

Finally, Ultradec features anti-vibration feet developed with Mike Latviss at Harmonic Resolution Systems.

So very nice quality turntable. Uh, it is more than what I expected at the price point.

• Turntable: MoFi Ultradeck +M. • Preamp/Amplifier: Mcintosh MA5100 ( recently restored and recapped the unit myself using a kit from eBay). • Speakers: Voigt Pipes with 8" fullrange driver from Tang Band (made these myself as well, with designs from YouTube; the sound is absolutely delicious, they cover every frequency range with weightless precision and the bass is full and imaged perfectly. Only complaint is that they are prone to beaming.)

Best sounding setup yet. Just brought home the MoFi Ultradeck bought the demo unit at my local dealer for 1700 dollars. First real turntable and it is a stark contrast to the AT LP60 I started with, especially with how quiet everything is.

For context, it’s connected to a Mofi Ultradeck w/ a Hana SL moving coil ($2500), JC2 BP preamp and JC5 amp ($4500 and $6000 MSRP). Aside from being very quiet, the Jr. has balanced outputs and variable MC loading. If you’re running a budget table with a MM cartridge, I’d stick with the built-in phono stage in a good preamp, or perhaps something like the ProJect tube box DS which also has variable loading but at a very reasonable cost ($399).

Look at the Technics SL-1200GR, the Music Hall MMF-7.3, and the MoFi Ultradeck. As far as things to upgrade now or later though… the most important component for your sound quality *by a mile* is your speakers.

Just upgraded to a Mofi ultradeck with a master tracker cart. This is probably my endgame at least for the foreseeable future. I’m absolutely in love with the table. The setup was ridiculously simple, the table plays well with my other components, and the sound is amazing.

Technics SL1200. I’ve been using my neighbors Mk5 since selling my MoFi Ultradeck. I’m having way more fun with the Mk5 than I ever did with the MoFi. And they’re indestructible.
