Hello! My 9 year old cat has always been a litter kicker and it’s been 9 years of sweeping and sweeping and sweeping. 

She has a lidded box (no door flap because she refuses to use a flap) and in the front inside, there is a crate to help prevent litter from being kicked out. She also has a litter catching mat. 

She is long haired which doesn’t help the prevention of litter dragging, and the floor is always showered with litter and i even find it in the hall outside the bathroom. 

Seeking any advice on what I can do to prevent litter from getting everywhere please!

Best litter box/contraption for SERIOUS litter kickers?

 The mess hits the inside of the lid and then trickles down behind the liner where I didn’t notice it at first. I don’t have to scrape clumps off the liner, which is fantastic- the liner allows me to just sort of flex the side from behind and scoop with far fewer bits left behind. The plastic it’s made from is thicker and sturdier than the boxes you find at the big corporate pet stores. My favorite feature is the on board storage for the scoop

 We will be keeping this. It is better than any $20 litter box I’ve bought so far. I am disappointed that it is not a miracle box and I will need to figure out a solution for my vertical pee-er (yes, I made up a word), but overall we are happy.  Almost forgot- the parts came packaged in a cardboard box that included a ping-pong ball

I have 2 of these. Yes they are expensive for what they are, but they are designed well. I have 4 cats - I really need litter boxes that are decent sized, easy to maintain, and look decent. These fit the bill

Expensive, but I like it.

 The male is neutered and the female is spayed. (Yes, believe it or not, the female pees straight-out standing up too.)  For years I resorted to creating elaborate fortresses made of cardboard boxes (2 feet high on each side with plastic bags underneath to protect the floor) around the litter boxes. Yeah, the cardboard caught the overspray, but they would retain the urine smell and the bottom would get saturated

  I was afraid if they sprayed like a firehose as they usually do it would "blow back" onto their fur, but it mainly just dribbled down into the litter. So I was happy the cats weren't drenched in pee.  They loved to scratch at the liner so I don't use them, which is ok because even if I did I would still have to wipe them down with enzymatic cleaner. But I still wipe the box sides down with the cleaner every day just in case to keep thing sanitary

I don't know for certain that the box would absorb urine smell over time as there is no antibacterial element in it (probably why there are liners), but figure wiping it down regularly will help

The BEST for high-peeing cats!

 I think the liner would get a bit saturated after a while, so I’m not using it. I do wish they would put a few scoop hanging slots closer to the back so the scoop was more hidden from view.  I had purchased a Modkat a few years ago, because of the clean looks and the flexible privacy options. My other cat uses it without any issues, and he doesn’t have any problems overshooting

We recently adopted a new cat. I discovered that about 1 of every 5 trips to the litter box, she decided a high pee was necessary. So on that trip she would pee over the side of the corner litter box. Fortunately at this point she is still sequestered in a space while she gets integrated into the household - her litter box is in a shower stall so thank goodness the pee was limited to that area

 He does have litterbox shyness, and he likes the Modkat, using it almost exclusively (we have three boxes he can access, we had another cat recently died). Btw, I don’t use the liners. I find it just as easy to hose the box out. And in between washing the box I can wipe the plastic sides off with a disinfectant wipe so it won’t smell as bad

Works for cats that pee high!

  Use: immediately, all of my cats were intrigued by the box and each had used it within hours. Absolutely no mess to be found anywhere outside the box!! My 22 year old cat is able to step into the box easily thanks to the tall pet entry. And the one that digs and digs, doesn’t like the litter bouncing off the liner onto his fur, so that’s been eliminated as a problem. The liner is a tarp-like material (great for re-use) that covers the entirety of the interior and is super easy to remove for fast, quick cleaning

 easy to assemble. You really only have to apply the clips to the box for the liner that goes in it and apply the lid for the top of the box which is magnetized, and you can leave it half open, closed, or fully open depending on your and your pets’ preference. I love that the box has a slot for the pooper scooper that comes with it. Assembly is super easy, not even 5 minutes from opening the packaging to placing the litter box in my preferred location and Bam! It was ready to go

Lifechanging

First - I will say this is not 100% perfect for my cat. He likes to "switch ends" occasionally, and instead of having his head poke out the opening while his urine goes safely inside the box, he will reverse himself and - yes! Standing up, head facing the back of the box (groan!), peeing straight out (no crouching for this cat) the opening.  But even facing the wrong way, most of the time this extra-deep box manages to capture the urine inside. Even if not completely perfect, its design works 95% of the time, which is twice as good as the boxes I tried before

  Note that the hooks for the liner are at one end of the box, and can be hard to see since it's just a small plastic package. Because I needed a bit more sealing around the entry, I taped the liner to the box, just on the lower rim - also helps to contain those "leaks".  My neighbor has an older cat who is having trouble crouching down, and said she was going to order one of these for her cat too!  Note re odors: my cat is very good about covering his feces, but I noticed that even though I keep the lid halfway open, it seems to contain smells almost as well as those dome-covered litterboxes - another plus.  Because of my cat's insistence on not crouching down, I didn't even try the traditional lidded litterboxes

Packaging turns into a cat puzzle and they LOVE IT!

 I use a clumping litter, and it's easy to get the clumps out. The lid is great, and there is no odor, because I clean out the litter box every day and add fresh litter as needed. My cats took right to it as well. It is also easy to put the lid on

I have 3 cats, and one of them doesn't squat to do his business. this was becoming a problem with having to find a way to keep urine off my floors. Not anymore! This litterbox is great. No more leaking, no more cleaning floors, and no more hassle
