 It's has a nice thickness as well which will absorb lots of fluids. The backside has a non slick back to keep the sheet in place and it allows me to turn over easier. I know it sounds confusing but let me explain.

I recently bought 2 LINENSPA 44" x 52" Non Skid Waterproof Sheet Protector for use on my home hospital bed to protect my sheets in case of a accident. The price was reasonable for me and the cost will allow me to buy more in the future.  So far my purchase has turned out great, the fabric is very soft and has a comforting texture. I like the quality of the sheet and it was actually bigger then I thought

The user had an accident and while the top layer absorbed much better than any of the other pads/sheeting we have, the waterproof liner seemed to fall asleep on the job.  Unfortunately, I cannot include myself in the latter group. The pad is brilliant at holding the amount of water it claims, is very comfortable to sleep on - cool against the skin - and washes well..

Basically, does what is advertises, HOWEVER...

Nice pad, I do like this style better than the crinkly full mattress covering plastic-y kind, however this one does skid around my mattress and bunch up on me. I have a thinner mattress (it's not the really thick padded kind) and the top material/covering is somewhat "slick" and even though the sheets have elastic all the way around them, they are loose on top of my mattress and are not tight fitting at all. I'm sure this doesn't help with the skidding and bunching problem, and possibly those of you with tight fitting sheets and mattresses with textured coverings may not have a problem with this pad moving around on you but just in case you don't, be prepared for some movement. I still like it and use it though, doesn't really bother me all that much and it provides me with the protection I need soooo
