The tablet is up-to-date (Android 11) and I cannot find some apps like Signal messenger for instance. If I install it with Aptoid, it works like a charm but updates are not automatic (need to be root).

Lenovo has less updates but has a better screen and a bit better performance. Plus you can get one with 6gb ram. Which I managed to get for £199

Is it worth considering a Lenovo tablet for a long-term purchase?

It is not possible to compete with the iPad and make a profit at the same price. So even though tablets like the P11 Plus are extremely good--a $230 tablet used to just be a waste of money some 5 years ago-- it's literally just not selling. There is not enough money to pay for the developer time to keep this device updated for 3 years.
