Books! Books! Books!  Doesn’t need to be a baby book, aim for a age 3-6 yr old range, or get YOUR favourite children’s book.  

My nephew is turning two on Friday, which is so exciting! Full disclosure: My partner and I can’t have kids, I know *nothing* about children, and most of my childhood memories are blacked out, so I’m at a *huge* loss at what toddlers (and parents of toddlers) like for gifts.

The parents don’t want “things” (mostly toys and clothes) but I don’t particularly like just giving a paper bill. I was curious if getting him a small piggy bank would be a cute idea? Do toddlers carry baby wallets? (lol) Do they “understand” money = stuff, or do they think it’s just paper? Should I just send cash and let the parents do something with it? Or just send stickers or a plain card for him? They’re well-off and lovely parents, so I’m sure it’d still go to him in some form, but my partner said a bank of his own where he can see his savings is something kids enjoy too. 

He’s a smart little guy, already helping cook dinner and chop vegetables, a little spitfire with the cutest mischievous smile. I just don’t know much about toddlers and don’t want to send a “thing” if a toddler won’t enjoy it or it’ll be unused for years. Sorry for the rambling! :)

Gift Advice for Two Year Old

 It doesn't have a cute koala but it does have a hermit crab looking for a new shell. So is this crate worth the price? I would say for $19.95 you would get a pretty good value. If you tried to recreate this the fishing game and the board book alone would cost you $30

 In this book Kellen is helping a hermit crab find a new shell. Sticking with the theme of looking for a shell this book house for hermit crab is a fairly good alternative. It doesn't have a cute koala but it does have a hermit crab looking for a new shell. So is this crate worth the price? I would say for $19

 I haven't done this activity yet with my son as I think he's a bit too young to actually enjoy it so I'm gonna save it for when he's a little bit older. As an alternative I couldn't find anything that was already pre-made like this on Amazon. Technically you could get craft paper, tissue paper, and some double-sided adhesive sheets and recreate this activity yourself. But the price on that would add up and I don't know about you but there's no way I'd be able to cut out anything that looked this good

 So if you think about it if you get two activities in a book every month you're going to end up about the same amount of activities versus the panda crates and that's pretty much my first impressions so let's go and see how my son likes these activities and I'll be back with the review. I've had a chance to review the items as well as take a look on amazon to see if this crate is worth the twenty dollars. As usual I try my best to find items that are as close as possible to the ones included inside the crate. Once removed it has an adhesive layer

KiwiCo Koala Crate Ocean Games Unbox and Review

My son has never had a comfort item, until about 3 weeks ago he has become very attached to an ugly squishmellow koala my grandmother got him when he was a baby. 

I love that he is attached to something, but I guess squishmellows are "collectibles" and limited? What? I tried to re-order a backup squishmellow because we all know how it goes, and they're $40 on Amazon. Not new, and only 2 in stock. Dang! 

So anyone else has a child that's attached to something hard to replace?
