This is a very nice looking mixer, and it has plenty of power. I love the splashguard feature, no spraying. It comes with flat beater, wish and dough hook, easy pour funnel, cookbook and other accessories. The whisk is adjustable downward so you can whisk small amounts of eggs, etc

Well-built mixer

  This mixer is actually a bit on the loud side, louder than my KitchenAid. As the gears turn it sounds very substantial.  I do like this mixer and will use it in place of my smaller KitchenAid to make bread. What I do not like is the dough hook that comes with it, which needs a design revisit

Bread making is something I have done for my family on a regular basis for over 20 years. I have a 300W KitchenAid stand mixer that has served me well for about half of that time, but there have been a few occasions when I have found it inadequate due to its size or lower-powered motor. I was very optimistic that this Kenmore Ovation mixer would fill that gap for me and actually give me reason to replace my KitchenAid. It’s a good mixer and it does a good job, but I have uncovered a design flaws, one that is quite serious though it is fixable (well, I have a work-around)

 (Fortunately, springs in the assembly made this a bit easier.) The assembly does have machine oil so what came out was tainted with it. I caught it before it spread to the main lump of dough, but it means I cannot leave the mixer unattended for any time without risking getting the dough contaminated with machine oil. This is an easy design fix – the dough hook needs a plate on the base, extending out in about a 2” radius, which would keep the dough from climbing up and over in most cases

  However, where it really shines is cooking with kids or with big batches of dough. I have consistent problems with spattering my entire body with dough and flour because I tend to be a little impatient, and this mixer does solve that problem completely. I can also have my niece over to help me bake and she can easily pour in ingredients into the top without me being concerned that she will catch a finger in the beaters. Once you get a big batch of dough in there, it does quite well

  In terms of "getting the job done," it works like a dream for large amounts of batter, dough, etc. It's clear that they did not design this for you to just pull out to scramble two eggs or make half a batch of cookies, which honestly I do think is a bit of a flaw. If you're going to make a giant heavy mixer that I have to leave on my counter, then I darn well want to be able to use it for EVERYTHING. As it is the attachments don't quite hit low enough to make a small batch of whipped cream or merengue

  For bread - it doesn't quite meet up to the action of my Kitchenaid. The one I have has a rotation that goes inward and outward as it mixes, rather than just in a circle around the edges. I find the Kitchenaid motion to be superior in terms of getting a thorough, speedy knead on bread dough.

If you also want to make smaller portions, then it might be too big for you

 The noise level is okay but I am used to a noisy unit and didn't notice much difference between the Kitchen Aid and this one. But best of all it performs perfectly. Not a problem with the dough hook, beater and whisk and performed as they should. Very nice unit!

I bake a lot, especially breads and the Kenmore Elite is almost a perfect unit for my kitchen. My only drawback is the bowl size. I currently have a Kitchen Aid with a 6 quart bowl and this one is a bit smaller. I also prefer a metal bowl as to a glass one strictly because of breaking

Just about perfect for aa stand mixer.

the bowl is wide but very heavy. The splash guard is wonderful. The bough hook did not get all the flour when making bread has to stop and scrape down the sides (don't have to with the Kitchen Aid). The hole in the too is very nice and the insert is an easy clean

I bought this direct from sears my kitchenaid was super old and did not work anymore, I liked the pouring feature but it does not mix well at all, I was always having to scrape the sides and mix it on my own, also when I was cleaning the bowl it slipped out of my hands and it broke in million pieces, of course they don’t sell a replacement, so now I need to buy a new mixer, don’t waste your money, I called everyone looking for the bowl, just stick to kitchenaid.

 The Ovation with a 5 quart glass bowl, and the Kitchenaid with a 5 quart stainless bowl. The Cuisinart and Kitchenaid have tall cyllendrical bowls, while the Ovation's is round. The Ovation also has an led light so you can see the progress of whatever you are mixing. It has something of a 1950s aura, or at least shape

 You won't be carrying your mixer around so the weight is good because it keeps it from walking off the counter, even at high speeds.  The Ovation (alone) has a retractable cord. Both the Ovation and Cuisinart shut off to prevent heat damage.  Warranty: Cuisinart: 7 years

 I will be comparing the 3 and pointing out the advantages and disadvantages of each. The Ovation most definitely held it's own against these 2 popular home mixers. It has some nice features, and one or 2 quirks. Overall it did very well, and is intuitive and easy to use

Very solid mixer (updated)

 Ever toss a pyrex on the floor? They do just fine. I expect the same from this bowl.  So- despite the large size- this has been the mixer of dreams. I love my kitchenaids but they are going into storage now as backup

 Took the same times as my kitchenaid. I was concerned by the glass bowl- my 1950’s kitchenaid beehive bowl shattered and I swore I would never use a glass bowl again. This one is quite sturdy and pyrex style glass. The handle (my old kitchenaid lacked a handle on their glass bowl!) is sturdy and honestly this bowl helds temps well and proofs bread well! Best bowl I have used- glass is thick enough that I am not concerned about breakage
