Jumping straight into end game (Impressions of Focal Clear Pro)
It really shines in the treble and the upper mids while not being overly bright at all and harsh like my previously owned MSR7 (too an extent the HE4XX also). The mids are slightly recessed but still feel very detailed and clean. The bass is punchy and has a good thump in the sub bass but not overpowering as it is clean and crisp. Separation of instruments and vocals is also done well.
Zero stars construction and customer service
I purchased these headphones in December of 2015 for $300. I loved them at first, but then, due to poor design (look at the photo of the cable they provide on the store page, the material wore away and then suffered connectivity problems; the sound would repeatedly disconnect and reconnect), the cab...

HiFiMan HE-400i review: High-end audiophile headphones for a semi-affordable price
ConclusionIf you've always wanted to own a pair of high-end "audiophile" headphones but can't quite justify dropping a grand on a pair, the HiFiMan HE-400i is a good compromise. It's a superb-sounding headphone full-size headphone that features excellent build quality and an improved design that makes it more comfortable to wear than its predecessor.

Budget endgame, for now.....
The he400i comes alive when paired with the dac x6, finally getting the power it needs. Bass quality and speed show sure shot improvement, along with some improvement in seperation and soundstage (placebo? ), Over just being driven by a razer/apple dongle dac. For 55$, can't complain about the dac-x6, decent power and a decent quality dac with multiple inputs and ability to drive my headphones, and provide a seperate line-out to speakers is a good deal in my book.

Bought the HE400i 2020
The HE400i soundstage is a bit bigger than the SHPP9500. The instrument separation in HE400i is way better. While it has a good bass extension, it's not a headphone for bass heads. It doesn't have a lot of bass, but it does have good bass.
Sennheiser HD 560S + FiiO K3. My intro into hifi! So far so good, sound is crisp and clean!
I was looking for an upgrade from my Phillips SHP9500, when I came across two nice headphones at the same price range, the Hifiman HE400i 2020 rev. and the Sennheiser HD 560S. I tested them both out at the shop with the K3 dac, but I realised the hifimans were much darker than these and I appreciate the clarity more. The bass response in the two were quick and rich, but these just sounded more right and clear to my ears.
HIFIMAN HE400i Ver.2020
These headphones are a bargain to say the least, and won’t leave you disappointed or underwhelmed with just about any song you can throw at them. Conclusion These cans are probably the best headphones you can get in this price range, hands down. For at home listening, they give a great relaxed and defined sound to almost every genre

I actually just ordered a slightly used JDS Atom if I ever decide to get harder to drive headphones, and I'm sure it will make the 400i sound a bit better right now too! I actually even noticed a bigger difference with the high-end performance using my KZ ZS10 Pro. Almost night and day more clear and defined on the Tempotec listening to "Mastermind" by Mick Gordon. Spread the news about this amazing little DAC!.

Without a doubt the best planars around at current price!
I am no expert at looking at the sound graphs (frequency response graphs) and say this headphone is good for this, that headphone is good for that etc. I am more of an avg Joe who over the years have upgraded from some headphones whose name I don't even recall anymore to a SennheiserHD 202, then an ...
