It's functional, it's waterproof, it's warm, it's hard-wearing, and it looks great.

I use ski mits with a lobster claw fingers when it is really cold. Something like the Hestra Leather Fall Line 3-Finger Gloves works like a charm, stores in your back pocket and double up for skiing or walking casually in cold weather too.

If you suffer from Reynaud’s syndrome, skip these and go right to heavy duty mittens. Attractive and well made but insufficient for my particular needs.

I have tried many of them mostly from Amazon for hiking and skiing and I can tell you that these three were better than others when you look at warmth, dexterity and price. Also you might take into consideration if they are waterproof or not and if you can take out lining and good thing is if they are touchscreen compatible. I like the Hestra Leather Fall Line. I'm planning a northern US winter road trip in Dec and I need something pretty darn warm.

This is my second pair of the same exact glove in a different color. I wore these twice and the wrist enclosures had some tearing on them. My main pair I've beaten while skiing and have had no such damage. Still awesome gloves.

I have a pair Black Diamond Soloist lobster gloves. Whole different league of warmth than my Hestra Fall Line mittens. Even with extra Hestra merino wool liners in the Fall Line mittens, the Soloists are still warmer.
