 Update 4: It is 4 years and 5 months since we've got this mixer. We replaced it 4 or 5 times. The last replacement unit works for more than 3 years already while we use it once in two weeks on average. I think I'll add one more star to my rating and will be adding one star a year until this unit dies

 They also told me that they shipped replacement and the UPS label for returning the broken unit. I'm adding two stars for the product and changing the title, because we were happy with the mixer before it has broken. Update 2: The replacement unit worked only once. The second time we turned it on, speed regulator didn't work

When I asked her if I can discuss this with a manager she connected me to another lady who introduced herself as "corporate manager" but refused to give her name

Buy this machine only if you live close to UPS store.

 So I called Hamilton Beach to ask for an explanation and replacements. What I got was a recorded message saying sorry, send an email from their web site, and a hang-up. I've done that and if I get replacements I will update this review but otherwise this thing will be going back to Amazon after never being used by us and we will go with a Kitchenaid or Bosch mixer.

I'm disappointed. The machine is well made, but I like the old fashoned kind with the two beaters. This one seems hard to get all the ingredients scraped from the sides and mixed. I've only used it once and may get used to it, but the two beater machine I learned to cook with was so good to mix with the least amount of side scraping

 If the bowl was shaped like a normal mixing bowl, it's likely that there would be no minimum quantity for mixing.  Other than that small complaint, I have none. I have had NO issues with the mixer "walking", shaking, or any issues with the motor feeling like it is being taxed. I purchased the white version of the mixer, so while it's nice that you can't see any flour residue on the mixer it also means that you can't see if the mixer needs to be wiped down or where

 The instructions clearly state that using less than an amount that would equal two eggs in the bottom of the bowl will result in the mixer not being able to mix the ingredients properly. The bowl has a small bump in the bottom of the bowl so that the mixer heads don't touch all areas of the bottom of the bowl. Sturdy, strong stand mixer, gets the job done!

So, my verdict after a week of searching for a standard mixer for me and myself (@&@), this hamilton standard mixer 4.5 quart stand mixer is come to stay.

I click purchase then cancel because of my fear its not worth my time trying it out. But then later in the day, I've decided to take this leap and buy it.

 2 out of 4 kitchen aid standard was defective during my quest of searching for a standard mixer. I got so tired, $300+ for a mixer that would only warranty for 1 year?!!! its get even worst when i contacted Kitchenaid customer service . So, i have decided to extend my search and looks for something else.

-1 star because of the bowl, the handle on the bowl is not as smoothly designed and not as comfortable to hold as Kitchenaid's bowl. But again, consider this product as this price, $149 for a black one, i think its very decent and affordable mixer for all household.

 That is a warranty issue for her. It does walk with big stiff dough recipes such as a two loaf all wheat. Simple physics, considering size and weight, tells you at medium to high speeds it will. Kinda lets you know it is a powerful electronic speed controlled mixer

Good value and powerful

 It's saved me some multiple of it's purchase price with scratch-made food. (And I am not a foodie).  Summary: I recommend. Powerful machine with a good warranty for a competitive price

 Overall, This Solves The Problem of mixing needs for 95% of us for 10 or 20 years after purchase.  Pros: good relative value for a high end machine. Powerful. Can do a double batch of whole wheat bread no problem

 No way would my wife accept a plastic bowl, though. On the lower end, the sunbeam heritage mixer is nearly as powerful, and considerably cheaper in that hotly competitive segment.  Be aware that many of the rave reviews are from a few years ago when the price was 10% lower and it had a 5 year warranty.  Discussion: I resent companies that promote a professional image and then offer a one year warranty and mostly plastic parts, so I bought this instead. Its powerful, but the bowl is just a bit small relative to the motor. That's to keep people like me from overloading it

 I've used it twice more and in addition to the smell, the mixer has been making a progressively louder high pitched grinding noise.  Overally, I'm really disappointed. This was my first stand mixer and I wanted it to knead dough. I've had this less than a month and have used it about twice a week for this task (not large recipes)
