It has a straightforward single fiber insert in the cover with a double row of waist snaps for comfort and fit adjustment. Despite a single gusset design, we didn't experience leaking during testing, and it has an above-average performance for absorbency. This diaper is a one-size-fits-all option that could save you money over time. 
Because this is a hybrid product, the insert sits inside the cover with nothing to hold it in place. If you fail to fasten the snaps, it could move as your baby moves, creating a potential mess. Also, the single gusset design could result in potential blowouts we don't traditionally see with double gussets. Last, because there are two parts to this option, it has a more involved setup process than some of the competition. However, the cleanup is easier. The Flip is an economical hybrid system we think most families will love. 

We tested the Flip with the matching Flip Stay Dry Insert, and we think they are an award-winning combo. Most hybrid systems fit a little trimmer than other types, and the Flip is no exception. It is small enough to almost look like a disposable diaper under regular baby clothes. It is simple to lay the single microfiber insert in the cover and adjust it to fit, while a double row of waist snaps helps with fit and comfort. It is easy to get a proper fit, and despite only having a single gusset, we didn't experience any leaks during testing. With an above-average score for absorbency, it is on the upper end, and we are happy with its performance.
Since this is a hybrid system, there is nothing to hold the insert in place aside from the cover, so if you do not fasten the snaps securely, it may move around as the baby moves, causing more of a mess. Blowouts are possible with any single gusset diaper as there is less protection than a second gusset design. Because the insert and cover are two parts, this system requires extra prep before each change, but the post-change clean-up is more straightforward. We like this one size fits all hybrid and find that it works well on most babies. This perk can save you a chunk of change and prevent the need to purchase different sizes as your baby grows. It is an economical hybrid system that measures up to the competition.

Not what I expected

I'm not sure if this is a personal problem with my baby, but I usually use prefolds and bought these just to try them out. Every time we use them, I feel like they don't contain the poop as well.  Pro: - Smaller than a prefold, not bulky  Con: - poop leaks out to the side, soiling the cover

 While Cottonbabies does make an organic option, they are more similar to prefolds in their design and in my opinion they lose two of their biggest assets—-their trimness and their ease of use—-which makes them just expensive organic thin prefolds. Microfiber gets smelly very quickly, requires more frequent stripping and just is a bit more of a pain than cotton inserts.  Second, price.  Overall happy with these inserts and paired with covers this is an economical and easy way to cloth diaper.

Great inserts

 At night the inserts and cloth diapers aren't as absorbent as the disposables but are overall pretty good and most nights last just fine. One tip is to add paper towels to make clean up easier and add absorbency.

Great when cloth diapering. The inserts are very absorbent and very reasonably priced. They wash and clean extremely quickly and easily. Our 4 month old has rarely soaked all the way through these and they are excellent for during the day
