I picked up a pair of the Fischer Ranger 102s last season. Incredible ski. A touch lighter than I had initially wanted but they rail groomers better than a ski that fat should, float well in pow for a 102mm ski and handle well in the air for a ski with a very traditional mount point, though you can move it forward and the ski apparently doesn't suffer at all.

(Typically skiing Taos to Revelstoke in the Rockies) It's a complete misnomer that every day in the western US is better on a 110mm ski. It's just not like that. You're going to use the Enforcer 93 a lot here too. When I do go up in waist width, I like the new 22/23 Fischer Ranger 102 FR better than the Enforcer 104 Free.

East to answer: Fischer Ranger 102FR. They replaced my Rustler 10s for the most part after 4 seasons. Rangers are more stable, hold a better edge, and blow through crud better than the Rustler.

I was a fan of the QSTs once I got used to them, but I felt like the tips were a little bit choppy for my taste in anything other than smooth corduroy or fresh untracked snow. I tend to ski fairly backseat, preferring to sort of swish my tails around to drop speed in the trees rather than digging in my front edges. That said, I do get in over my head sometimes and need to be able to drop speed quickly. Currently my list includes the Line Sick Day 94, Fischer Ranger 102, Salomon QST 98, and the Elan Ripstick 96.

I would describe it as a detuned Kastle which is either high praise or an insult. * The Fischer Ranger 102 is easier to use than most of the above skis (especially the Volkl and Blizzards) but maintains 80-90% of the top end in my opinion. Without knowing where you are hard to be much more specific in terms of suggestions but everything above is a good all mountain ski.

It will hold a solid carve but is light and agile enough to bounce around through the trees. It’s everything I wanted. I had a friend go with the Nordic’s Enforcer and, although a fantastic ski, much heavier and less lively than the FR 102.

The Ranger 102 and and Blade Optic 104 are good choices. Also consider the Blizzard Rustler 10, Rossi Sender 104 Ti, and Liberty Origin 106.
