The Ecover Automatic Dishwasher Soap Tablets is an excellent option for those with fragrance sensitivities. They have one of the least aggressive smells of any of the products that we tested. These tabs provided a thorough clean with minimal residue. The biodegradable formula is also a nice plus if you strive toward being an ecologically conscious consumer. They can typically be found for around the average cost of dishwasher pods overall, so if the &#40;relatively&#41; straightforward formula is appealing, they can offer decent value as well.
Though the ingredients could conceivably be eco-friendly, the packaging is not. Each tab is individually wrapped, which ultimately produces a bunch of plastic that doesn't seem entirely necessary, given that these are solid tabs rather than liquid pods. Still, we found plenty to like about this product.

I was skeptical about using "environmentally friendly" dish detergent, but having finally moved into my own house and getting to make my own household rules, my goal is harm reduction. So I spent a little (okay, maybe a lot) more and tried these.  It works very well, I was very pleasantly surprised by how perfectly clean it gets the dishes I'm not even cleaning before I put them in the dishwasher, from a house I just inherited from a 91 year old woman, many with years of sticky grime and dirt after being in the cupboards unused for many years. I'm impressed

Not so eco friendly, as every tablet is wrapped in non-biodegradable plastic.

These work well and clean just fine and as expected. However, they wrap every single tablet in plastic. They are wrapped in “recyclable” HDPE 2 plastic but in most communities, plastic bags and wrapping are not recyclable so it defeats to purpose of buying this product. I give it a 5 because it works but a 1 for calling yourself eco friendly and using plastic

That's a lot of single-use plastic

I have used these for years and absolutely loved them, with the exception of one flaw: the packages are incredibly hard to open with wet hands. After you're done loading the dishwasher it's so frustrating to have to sit and try to open one of these little boogers, I usually end up using my teeth :/ PLEASE improve the packaging and I will change my rating to 5 stars! Otherwise these are so great for dirt removal, clean environment and healthier living-- they're rated highly on EWG's list for products that are non-disruptive to our bodies/don't contain harmful ingredients. Highly recommend, but PLEASE have someone who actually washes dishes in a test group to determine the ease of opening when y'all roll out some new packaging!
